The homophobic thread :>

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Your being utterly ashamed of yourself was plenty; you don't have to go overboard; you'l strain yourself.

I'm going to go read some Marx, Dorothy Day and Mao now. I'll try to be better, I really will.
I'm tellin' ya, you'll strain yourself; but if you persist in carrying out this absurdity, read some Kim some Dung too. Yep, that's the ticket.

Depending on the location, money may grow on palm trees, as in Florida, or, in the case of Kentucky where Davis lives it can be picked off the blossoms of bluegrass. No way it could have ever cost you anything.
You're being facetious, aren't you?
I am, yes. Money doesn't really grow on palm trees in Florida. It's just called a dollar weed.

Even in AZ:
Arizona Court Refuses To Bar Enforcement Of Nondiscrimination Law For Anti-LGBT Calligraphy Shop

... The freedom of religion means these business owners can hold any belief about marriage, but it doesn’t give them a right to ignore laws protecting people against discrimination. So it’s no surprise that the court emphatically rejected their irrational request.

"It is absurd to think that the fabricator of a wedding invitation for a same-sex couple has endorsed same-sex marriage merely by creating or printing that invitation," the ruling said. Moreover, the business owners “failed to assert even an incidental burden on the exercise of their religion.” The court explained that the “printing of names does not hinder in any way [the owners’] independent exercise of [their] religious belief by attending the church of their choice, engaging in religious activities or functions, and expressing their beliefs on their business website and literature or in their personal lives.” ...

Christian conservative bigots lose again, awww.
Alabama justice off bench for defying feds on gay marriage

... The 50-page decision indicated that a majority of (the nine-member Alabama Court of the Judiciary) justices wanted to completely remove Moore — not just suspend him without pay — but they didn't have the unanimous agreement. The effect, though, is the same. Moore is off the bench.

Moore's punishment comes as all three branches of Alabama's government face upheaval. The Republican speaker of the state House of Representatives was removed from office this summer for criminal ethics violations. A legislative committee is weighing whether (Republican) Gov. Robert Bentley should be impeached over a scandal involving a top aide....

They do know how to pick them down there. Off the top of my head, without looking it up, I think something like 4 of the last five governors have either quit or been run off or charged with something.

Working backwards:
Bob Riley: Abramoff scandal

In November 2005, Riley was linked to the Jack Abramoff scandal when his former Congressional press secretary, Michael Scanlon, pleaded guilty to conspiracy in the matter. It further emerged that, as a Congressman, Riley signed a letter on behalf of the U.S. Family Network, opposing expansion of casino gambling in Alabama. The U.S. Family Network was revealed to be an Abramoff front, funded by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, which operated competing casinos. Riley has denied knowing the source of this funding.
Don Siegelman: "convicted on felony corruption charges and sentenced to seven years in prison."
Fob James: Religion controversies - supporter of Judge Roy S. Moore.
Jim Folsom Jr.: "narrowly defeated by former Democratic Governor Fob James, who was running as a Republican."
H. Guy Hunt: Criminal indictment, conviction and pardon
Then, there's George Wallace.

Not sure, but I think Louisiana may have an even worse track record.

Most of the customers seem more pissed off that they're being assumed to be gay than the fact that the food truck is refusing service to gay people haha!

Yeah, I noticed that, too. The spin on "We're together" was funny. But, we don't know what their reactions were when the point was explained to them. Seems like The Daily Show's interest was more in mocking HB2 than it was in embarrassing individual NCers.

The difference is that in North Carolina it's elected American lawmakers making laws that discriminate against Americans. And NCAA sanctions can make a difference there, unlike China or Cuba or Congress.

And as any senior Republican will tell you, doing business with China opens it up to western ideas, and also gives you a way to apply pressure.

Plus, the NCAA isn't getting any significant heat from players, coaches, schools, fans, advertisers and other business connections for playing in China or Cuba, and it won't.

Seth Milner fails logic, again.

Let that sink in, again.

Not to mention that it's "civil rights" violations in NC. Even if the logic were right (as if), the writer of the sign would still be wrong.

Also, the NCAA still "plays games" in NC. It's just moved championships, which it doesn't play in China or Cuba. The whiny, transphobic post fails in at least 5 ways that we've IDed. No one ever accuses bigots of being smart or honest, ever.

Seth Milner fails thinking things through, again.

Well, when just getting a response is considered a success you can't expect a lot of thinking.

except when embargos are preferred for Cuba and Iran

why don't they ever make up their minds
