Non-Trump Republicans

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

That reads more like an elaboration with a certainly possible scenario than an "Or..." Am I missing something?

I don't know what the Trumpsucker Republicans will do, but my guess is that Trump is done with politics.

- Trumpsucker Republicans have been trained by Cruz and others in recent years to be disgusted with the "Republican Establishment." With no much Republican establishment not backing Trump, and Trump only able to escalate rather than admit failure, Trump and the Trumpsuckers form their own party. Cruz, Palin and all the clown car candidates and Tea Party join them.

- The adults stay with the Republican party. But adults don't get media coverage. Clowns and wingnuts do. That includes Fox News, as always getting revenue from impotent right-wing rage.

- With the vote split the Republican Party is decimated in the next election. Trump's party does better, but still doesn't win. They blame Republicans for splitting the vote. Attacks escalate.

- Remaining Republicans have no choice but to cross over to Trump's party, if they want a chance of being elected. Control of the House and Senate is dissolved completely. The last vestiges of the old Republican Party have been firmly swept away. The regional governors now have direct control over their territories. Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station... [...] Sorry.

That, plus this was never about the country or policy for him. It was always about Trump. Since he won't run for POTUS again, he just won't care.

I may be wrong, but I believe that, even if he won, he would pull a Palin and resign inside of two years. He's never had an actual job and doesn't want one.

Yeah, there would have been a conflict between the Trump that cares more about winning than doing and the Trump that likes telling others what to do. Systemic limits on the latter definitely could have frustrated him into quitting.

I can see him quitting work on day 2, but never the office. The ego is too big and there is always outsourcing

Well, sure. His campaign has declared that his VP will be handling foreign and domestic policy. In other words "everything."

I'm not a sea lawyer; wonder how it would square with impeachment guidelines to be perpetually absent from office and not attending to official functions.

His showing up would seem more so.

In any case, the charge wouldn't stick. While Mike Pence handles all the foreign and domestic policy, Trump would still have more presence than most Presidents. Just imagine Trump....

- Conducting business from the Oval Office
- Giving State of the Union addresses
- Interrupting TV to address the nation
- Hosting and visiting foreign leaders
- Showing up in Air Force One
- Refusing to pardon the turkey

Heck, most presidents' International Women's Day speeches go unnoticed and unreported. Trump's wont.

Not showing up for work is definitely not an impeachable offense for elected officials. Right, Mr. Rubio?

More than 3 dozen GOP leaders say no to Trump, USA TODAY survey finds

Exclusive: USA TODAY survey shows that a quarter of elected top Republicans won't endorse Trump

Here is the list of Republicans who are not supporting Trump

Who supports Trump? (interactive list)

4 (or more?) links for the same thing?

Sens. Richard Burr & Thom Tillis, Gov. Pat McCrory & a couple of NC Reps. still endorse Trump  , unsure about our other GOP Reps.

A public radio story on this USA Today survey said that 1/3 of GOP Govs. and Sens. are not supporting Trump, 1/4 overall when the House is included. Some of these have endorsed or will vote for Hillary.

I'm disappointed. The debate was last chance for a big reveal that Donald Trump is secretly Andy Kaufman.
