Isn't it simply amazing how people today absolutely know without a doubt how Biblical events actually occurred? Oh well.

God is indeed the original myth, but there really were first Christians. It's fascinating that modern Christians bear false witness about them.

It's called recorded history. Yes, we really do know a whole lot about what happened back then, because people wrote it down.Mr.B wrote:Isn't it simply amazing how people today absolutely know without a doubt how Biblical events actually occurred? Oh well.
That's includes many early versions of Christian texts - some which later made it into the New Testament, and some didn't. We can see stories evolve over time, such as Christ's resurrection not being in early versions, but showing up three or four centuries after Christ. We know a lot about Christian beliefs like Sabellianism, Arianism, the Gnostic Gospels or the teachings of Origen - all common in early Christianity, and all edited out over the first 600 years.
I know that a basic tenet of your faith is to remain strictly ignorant about Christianity. But many of us - Christian and otherwise - are quite interested in this history.

Isn't it simply amazing how Christians like Mr.B people today absolutely know without a doubt how Biblical events actually occurred despite the overwhelming historical evidence otherwise, including that written by early Christians, and logic failures like the farcical notion created by tour guides that Christians hid in the catacombs?
Odds are that he was too frightened to even read the article. That's why he dismissed it out of hand without even attempting to directly address any of its assertions. Why does his faith make him such a coward and dolt?rstrong wrote:... I know that a basic tenet of your faith is to remain strictly ignorant about Christianity. Maybe he should try some of the newer ones
I hear the mormons are growing and the FSM is also quite popular these days

I doubt he'd see the need. Whatever his phobias, bigotries and hates are, he simply cherry-picks an matching verse from the Bible, rejects the rest, and declares it "Christianity."billy.pilgrim wrote:Maybe he should try some of the newer ones

There you go --- "whatever". That in itself is proof that the accusations you've been slinging is nothing but pure bigoted hatred of anyone's religious beliefs. Sticks and stones and all that. Now, tell us about YOUR phobias, bigotries and hates.
"....he simply cherry-picks an (sic) matching verse from the Bible, rejects the rest, and declares it "Christianity."
Why "cherry-pick" anything else when the "matching verse" that deals with the subject matter says it plainly enough? How many times do you want something repeated to you when you've heard it plainly the first time? Are the "cherries" I pick not ripe enough for you?

Aww gee... you've hurt my feelings. (how many forum points did that reply earn you?)

I don't use the Bible to justify any it.
Well. Except for pointing out that Jesus's teachings contradict the hatemongers' claims. Not that you would know about that, obviously.
And I suspect there's something about ASP.NET authentication in Revelations.
YOU tell US. You declare the one (1) directive in the New Testament against homosexuality - from Paul's Letter to the Corinthians - to be sacrosanct. But another "plainly enough" directive from the same letter - against letting women speak in church - you tell us you simply ignore.Mr.B wrote:Why "cherry-pick" anything else when the "matching verse" that deals with the subject matter says it plainly enough?

There is no doubt that rstrong is more intelligent, not to mention more honest and with greater integrity and less cowardice than Mr.B. By Mr.B's "logic" that makes Mr.B a sub-Canadian and a sub-sub-pig.
