Report: D.C. school marching bands skipping Trump’s inaugural parade

no Washington, D.C., public school marching band will perform at the inaugural parade.

According to a Wednesday report from NBC Washington, no local public schools submitted applications to perform in the parade. The original deadline was Nov. 28 but was extended to Dec. 5 to allow more time to apply. A D.C. public schools spokeswoman told the NBC affiliate that she was unaware of any band in the district that had applied to participate in the Jan. 20 parade.

Other high schools in the area also reportedly declined to submit applications:

No bands in Arlington County or Prince George’s County public schools applied, according to district representatives. A Fairfax County schools spokesman was not aware of any schools that had applied, and a Montgomery County schools spokeswoman did not have information available.

Wow, not even rich white suburban schools.

The University of Maryland’s College Park campus also declined to perform again.

Ivanka Trump’s role as the placeholder for those who take issue with her father’s policy stances and public sentiments continues. First there was the letter from the jewelry designers who told the mother and businesswoman that the proceeds from her purchase with them were being donated to support organizations that do work that is threatened by her father’s stances. Next came the #DearIvanka vigil (and sardonic Instagram posts).

The latest form of peaceful protest? Amazon reviews.

Reads one review, titled, “You get what you ask for. Boots edition.”:

These boots are perfectly designed to trample on fellow Americans’ Civil Rights Day or Night. Your legs will be enclosed in a tight, made-somewhere-that-is-not-America material that will squeeze all the blood from your brain, resulting in blind admiration of demagoguery. All the while, your feet will continue to atrophy as they are are squeezed into a fetishized version of the female body which likely will not include making decisions on its behalf. So Trump put his two totally unqualified women (and it looks like his equally unqualified token black guy) in charge of agencies no Republican gives a ratz ass about anyway and generally would like to get rid of. Trump said during the campaign the UN is worthless and "no friend of the US". All Republicans have always talked about getting rid of the Department of Education and Uncle Ben Carson, the likely head of HUD has called it "like a failed socialist experiment," not to mention that he's declared himself unqualified to head a government agency. And now, when the agencies fall into the terlet, Trump and the Republicans can blame the women and the black guy. Is this a great country or what?

I don't recall where YOU criticized my grammar; I do recall O Really once commenting on my usage of numerous contractions and other challenges to the English language...but that's OK and I'm OK with criticism from anyone who finds my grammar or vocabulary offensive.

I don't have to impress anyone by using eloquent speech and 3 dollar words, nor by posting endless links in an attempt to impress anyone with my vast accumulation of knowledge.
