Electoral Votes Redux

Unread post by Stinger »

Obama got a bunch of them.

Mitt, not so much.

I'm really sorry that Lefty's thread about worst predictions got lost. It was a good one.

Shows how those people who live in the insular, delusional world propped up by Rush, Fox, Michael Barrone, Dick Morris, Karl Rove, and others are caught completely off guard and are so completely lost when reality steps in.

When you make a habit of ignoring the facts and just making it up and believing what you made up, you very often make a fool of yourself.

So the mainstream media got it right yet again, and the conservative "media" was so far off the mark -- again -- that it couldn't even qualify as bumbling amateurs.

Do tell.

I saw the Karl Rove meltdown on Fox News on election night, when they called Ohio for Obama, and it dawned on me; these people actually thought they were going to win. They actually believed their own bullshit. I mean, this was Karl Rove! This wasn't Dick Morris or some fringe right-wing blogger. These were mainstream, establishment political operatives, and they just totally ignored reality.

Is it too much hope that they'll start to pay attention to actual facts and not ideology? Perhaps come to their senses on things like climate change, evolution, and same sex marriage?

That was fun to watch!

Rove was probably the biggest loser of the election. He convinced a lot of millionaires and billionaires to dump money into Romney's campaign through his superPAC, no doubt with promises of what they'd get in return. And he was the strategist behind the campaign.

He didn't deliver. A lot of people will be very unhappy with him. Once it was obvious that Romney/Rove had lost, even Fox News had no problem repointing the cameras at experts who explained why Rove was making a fool of himself.

In Rove's defence, even the day after the election particle physicists were not yet willing to call the election for Obama.

Sure, there was a 99.2% probability that he would win, but that is several standard deviations away from the 99.99995% confidence that the particle physicists would need to declare the election won.

Dick Morris was a big loser as well. After the election he tried to fall on his sword, but missed the sword.

Meanwhile, down here in Florida, we're still counting votes.

The voter suppression planned by the Florida legislature and our extremist governor, Freddie Kruger, was not severe enough. We still won.

The best news is that Alan West appears to have been a one-hit wonder. Or is that a one-miss blunder?

Here in Canada we're just happy that we won't be assigned Ambassador Palin.
"It's a perplexing time for many of us right now."

Both, Stinger. However, Ol' Alan is contesting the election.

Guess he needs time to find his sword and fall on it? He'll likely miss same as Morris ... ;)

Funny.. KKKarl Rove says that Obama won by suppressing the vote.. .

"He succeeded by suppressing the vote," Rove said in an interview on Fox News with anchor Megyn Kelly on Thursday afternoon, "by saying to people, 'You may not like who I am and I know you can't bring yourself to vote for me, but I'm going to paint this other guy as simply a rich guy who only cares about himself.'"

Rove didn't actually give any examples of ways in which Obama made it harder for people to exercise their constitutional right at the polls -- things like voter ID laws, which have been pushed by GOP legislatures around the country. In fact, Obama specifically said in his victory speech that it was unfair that people had to wait in line for hours to vote, which occurred in part because Republicans reduced the time period for early voting. HuffPo

That KKKarl. . . he's such a kidder.. 8-)

So, Obama suppressed to vote by... making people hate Romney? We're dealing with lunatics here.

I got a kick out of reading all the recent predictions of a Romney win by the usual suspects--not
so much the way out there nationals nutjobbers, but the slightly more sensible right wingers--
folks like Barone, Barnes, Kristol. The funniest of all though was Peggy Noonan. She felt
vibrations that told her the Mittman was on his way to sure victory. More Romney/Ryan signs
in Florida, supposedly bigger crowds. Hilarious. And Obama? He looked tired and wan and if
he knew the end was near. Peggy screwed up big time. The whole thing is a total hoot.:

I don't even see how Noonan has a job. She's never right, and she doesn't throw out the red meat like Rush and Glenn. I think she tries to be more aloof and appear as right-wing intelligentsia, but she doesn't have the brains or integrity to pull it off.

To their credit, Newt, Dick Morris, and some others stepped up and said, "we were wrong. we blew it."
I fully expected when the forum came back up to see lots of posts:

The Colonel would be saying "opps - I guess I don't know as much about polls as I thought."

Super-S would be saying, "umm, maybe they weren't so 'desparate' after all"

Reality wouldn't show up at all, at least not with the same name - maybe he'll go back to being ugly like his "predictions."

But I had a wonderful election day! Not only did Obama win, but it turns out his campaign was perfectly strategized and perfectly run. Pretty good for somebody with no leadership skills, eh? And the Republicans were totally wrong - from their assumptions on turnout to the their convoluted math of demographics. Fox and the usual suspects got caught lying to their own base - assuring them pollsters were stupid and Obama would surely be toast. The Senate held - and increased. Teapartiers were beaten back under their rocks. Initiatives on various state ballots were either passed or rejected along my preferences. The homophobes can no longer claim "no state has ever legalized same sex marriage by popular vote." The Supreme Court is likely to be free from further right-wing infestation for many years to come.

Republicans are already eating each others' young, and will probably nominate even more "severe" right-wingers in the future so we can look forward to other Akins, Palins, McMahons, and other pinatas.
