Wingnutties out of control!

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Techdirt: New DOJ Boss Says He Hasn't Read DOJ Investigations Into Abusive Policing, Calls Them 'Anecdotal'

New Attorney General Jeff Sessions has just sent another message about the future of US law enforcement: there will be no policing of the police during the Trump Years. In his first on-the-record briefing, Sessions flat-out stated the DOJ's many civil rights investigations of local police departments mean nothing.

[Sessions] said he had not read the Obama Justice Department's scathing reports on unconstitutional policing practices in Ferguson, Mo., or in Chicago, reasoning that he found the summaries "pretty anecdotal."

At least there's no sign of gerrymandering in that district. No sir, none at all....

That one's not too awful, largely following county lies and the MO & KY borders. It does get a little funky near East St. Louis, but that might be for population balance reasons and to keep the suburbs in one district.

#13 is much weirder. I don't know who controlled the IL Leg. & Governor's office in 2011.

(SC) Gov. McMaster talks roads fixes in Greenville; calls tax hike “last resort”

... “I’m not in favor of raising taxes. Only as a last resort,” the Governor said.

This week, state representatives voted for a ten cent gas tax increase, 97 to 18....

Instead, McMaster is reaching out to President Trump.

“I asked President Trump to send us some money in the trillion dollar plan that he has. Five billion of that would be for the roads,” said McMaster....
Got it, leech, raise taxes on all Americans to pay for SC roads that its people won't. :oII

I'm for user based taxes wherever possible.

The cost of our roads is increased a hundred fold due to design for big trucks.
The damage to our roads is increased a hundred fold by big trucks.
Our engineers can identify an exact number for the cost of running these trucks on our roads.
Time for them to pony up.

And btw - stop subsidizing the big box stores at our highways, rails and ports.

I agree, but until we get there it's no excuse for SC's new Gov. to expect all of us to subsidize what he refuses to do at the rate that 48 other states are doing.

Somewhere, a historian is assigned the task of transcribing Sarah Palin's endorsement speech of Donald Trump to preserve it for the National Archives and humanity.

A gun shot is heard.

I'm submitting BRD to the Trump Library. Since they wait until sometime after the end of the term, they won't break ground until October.

Former Texas congressman accused of taking charity's money

Image
Rep. Steve Stockman, better known as the guy who brought Ted Nugent to the State of the Union

Former Texas Rep. Steve Stockman, who invited rocker Ted Nugent to President Barack Obama's 2013 State of the Union address, is accused of spending money meant for charity on himself and contributions to his campaign.

Stockman, a Republican who served two inconsecutive terms in the U.S. House, is charged with conspiracy to make conduit contributions and false statements. He was released from custody after a hearing Friday in Houston federal court.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Stockman on Friday blamed his arrest on a "deep state" shadow government, which is a theory that has taken hold among some conservatives that there is a shadowy network of powerful entrenched federal and military interests working to undermine President Donald Trump....

well the idiots have all scraped off their
Ground Air Force One
Not Our Blue Angles

bumper stickers. I really never understood the support for spending millions on the air show events and especially the bumper stickers slogan since they were never grounded (there was the threat when the repugs did their 10% spending cuts, but the navy worked that out. There was an attempt to rein in the expense during the bush administration. They limited the number of shows in one place to one, but the Navay fixed that by calling the Friday show a "dress rehearsal"

anyway, the new bumper sticker popping up all over the Santa Rosa county (and Hurlbert Field area) is:

NUKE 'EM
TILL THEY GLOW
SHOOT 'EM
IN THE DARK

I'm not 100% on the meaning, but their other bumper sticker says, Trump
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”
