Have you seen these---The Hindenburg Disaster

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Have you seen these---The Hindenburg Disaster

Here's an article that was published back in May. About all that most of us know about this disaster is the short b&w newsreel we've seen over the years. Good info and history here.

Hey, Mitt would have loved that thing. The windows open.

Great pictures, especially the dining room and the hangar.

My mom was stationed at Richmond Naval Air Station in Florida during WWII.

Their blimps weren't as fancy.

My adopted father's dad would occasionally work the landing pad at Lakehurst. What they did when they needed ropers is go down to the local pub, restaurant only about 1/2 mile south of the base and get men and pay them for the few hours. He gave me a hatchet they used to carry to cut or tie ropes with that I had hanging on the wall of my barn until a few scumbag kids here on the hill took it. After I caught up with them they couldn't remember where they left it while running thru the woods.

In frame #22 where you could link to the video, did any of you watch it, and did you have sound?
I had no sound; just an occasional popping.
Yeah, same here, MrB. I don't think it was meant to have sound. Remember this was 1937. Since there is no "strike" text option here, I just reduced the font size. I think there is supposed to be sound but archives.org are changing things up a bit and perhaps this vid hasn't caught up yet?

Try this one ... (also from archive.org) ...

Even so, archive.org is a great place to see old footage and old computer coverage.
