Betrayher

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

He might have stayed in his job in the military, but the CIA is a different matter.

The espionage has a long history of "recruiting" spies through entrapment. Find out that someone is having an affair - seduce him with your own agent if need be - and you can blackmail him into betraying his country. (First convince him to do something "harmless." Once that's done the hook is set. You can then threaten to expose that betrayal too.) Having an affair is a big deal in the CIA.

While it's unlikely that Petraeus would have been blackmailed, it would be hard for the CIA to maintain its "no affairs" policy when the head of the CIA is doing it.

I read once that the CIA had an exceptionally enlightened policy towards gays at a time when one could have their career ended in any other government agency by being outed. The deal was that if a gay went on record as being gay, it wouldn't hurt their career. That way they couldn't be blackmailed for being gay, and the CIA had less worries about that sort of blackmail.

I think he got sacked because his mistress couldn't keep her mouth shut (in more than one way  ) even though she was formerly an intelligence officer. In a speech in Denver Link she spilled the beans about the CIA holding Libyan militia members prisoner in the comound and that the attack on 9-11 was an effort to free those prisoners. (go to 34:54 if you don't want to hear the entire speech).

I'm sure there will be endless speculation, analysis and conspiracy theories in the media. It'll be unnecessary; the guy simply couldn't keep his drone in his pants.

Perhaps he was priming himself to run for President on the Democratic ticket?
Or maybe the Republican.

Gives a new meaning to her fawning book about Patraeus.

She said they [now] think that the attack was to get a couple of prisoners back, but that that is still being vetted.

She also said that there were tens of thousands of people in 22 other countries demonstrating because of the video, and that intel showed that watching the Cairo demonstration galvanized them into action.

Verifies what's been said on this forum -- being a militia attack and being provoked by a video are not mutually exclusive.

Don't know why so many on the right can't seem to grasp that simple concept. I guess all their mental energies are so focused on hating all things Obama that they have nothing left to think with.

Sad.

This Is Awkward: David Petraeus Is In the Next Call of Duty As America’s New Secretary of Defense

Link

The new first-person shooter features the former general as the Secretary of Defense in the year 2025, serving loyally to a female President who looks a whole lot like Hillary Clinton.

Petraeus's love triangle has now expanded into a love pentagon.

This is what happens when you allow heterosexuals in the military.

"Also their neighbors...."

Also emergency responders trying to rescue the neighbors, thanks to the drone policy of "double taps", sending a second drone to take out rescuers.
