I went to high school in Willowdale, Toronto, where the band members are from. I got to hear "Subdivisions" months before much of the rest of the world; a friend of mine's dad did some synthesizer work on it. Alex Lifeson went to my high school a decade before me. The video for "Subdivisions" was filmed around my area in Willowdale and Scarborough.

I think I stopped listening to metal when I switched from booze to weed.
Just a coincidence I'm sure.

When Dio was born a new star appeared in the sky.

Legend has it that Ronnie James Dio died on the same day the battle between heaven and hell was to occur.

As God and Satan's forces met, Dio's soul descended between the two Armies. As the two armies charged one another only seconds away from initiating Armageddon, Dio picked up his celestial mic and stood in silence; his head facing downward, his foot slowly tapping.

The armies stopped.

Silence ensued.

A bemused God and Satan stare intently at Dio. Only the sound of the wind can be heard grumbling in the distance. From Dio's holy synths, a faint echo could be heard in the distance, gradually growing louder and louder... and louder.

Suddenly the valley erupts with the sound of distorted electric guitar. Boulders fall from the mountain tops. Volcanoes erupt with lava. Dio lifts his head up, raises his hand, and begins singing "Holy Diver".

When Dio finishes, both God and Satan command their armies to stand down. They embrace one another with a hug; both shed a single tear at the beauty which they have both just witnessed, which mingles into one, falls to earth, and cleanses humanity of it's sins giving it one last chance at redemption.

In the distance, only a dark silhouette can be see as Dio rides his tiger into the setting sun.

Legend has it that's how Armageddon was averted. Because of - Ronnie. James. Dio.

Don't listen to that song through the youtube thing. Just don't. The only reason it's there is for your reference. Here are the steps you must take to listen to this song

1) Go by this CD, but don't listen to it in your car.
2) Drive directly to best buy or something. Buy the most powerful sound system money can buy.
3) Go home and completely seal off your house so no outside sounds can penetrate your walls.
4) Install the sound sysetm
5) Turn the bass up ALL THE WAY.

Only after those steps are taken may you then listen to that song.

You will probably now be deaf afterwords, but that is ok, because after hearing this song no music will be able to live up to what you've just experienced anyway.

Edit: Even that album cover man... It's got freakin vampires or wizards or some shit in space. How can you top that?

Not metal but sure do have some staying power. I seen their first farewell Tour back in 82, seen the Who there also. I think there were 2-3 JFK jams. All had over 100,000 people. Man the things we got away with back then and survived.
When concerts started at 10 in the morning and went to midnight.
