Maybe that's their idea. The "weakest state" is Vermont, where there are no rules.

Saw something about this on BRCC TV and was struck by the stats, looked it up.

2005 French riots

In October and November 2005, a series of riots occurred in the suburbs of Paris and other French cities, involving the burning of cars and public buildings at night.

The unrest started on 27 October at Clichy-sous-Bois, where police were investigating a reported break-in at a building site, and a group of local youths scattered in order to avoid interrogation. Three of them hid in an electricity substation where two died from electrocution, resulting in a power blackout. (It was not established whether police had suspected these individuals or a different group, wanted on separate charges.) The incident ignited rising tensions about youth unemployment and police harassment in the poorer housing estates, and there followed three weeks of rioting throughout France....

Pretty awful, but what would the stats have been here?

Lots more total deaths

The carrying of and willingness to use guns has to be a big part of it. Are both the cops and the rioters more restrained - chicken and egg? Is it a French thing? Are we so much more likely to engage in personal, as opposed to property, violence?

HB 588 would allow guns on campus and eliminate our background check on private sales.

HB 746 would eliminate our state’s important concealed carry weapons permitting system.

Since 9/11 less than a hundred Americans have been killed here by Islamist terrorists, and some of those links to Islamism have been tenuous.

In that same period about 180,000 have been killed by intentional gun violence. Add suicides and accidents and the figure is closer to 500,000.

Yes, you read that correctly. Here in North Carolina the catch all gun bill was not brought up for a vote before the deadline for bills to “crossover” from one chamber or another. This victory is because you called and wrote your state legislators. Thank you!

In theory this means that the bill is dead for the rest of the session. In reality, there are sneaky parliamentary procedures to get around crossover. So we need to keep the pressure on....

This bill would have allowed guns at UNC system schools and community college campuses, including day care centers and hospitals on campus. It also would have eliminated the life saving pistol purchase permitting system that is our background check system on private handgun sales, which account for 22% of all gun sales. Another bill would have eliminated the concealed carry weapons permitting system. None of these bills were passed before crossover.

We saw how citizen activism and direct lobbying went hand in hand to stop these bad bills. Your contribution today will help keep these dangerous provisions from becoming law.

I wasn't comapring the number of deaths. Drugs are just as deadly as guns; yet drug use is championed while the masses scream about guns.
No small wonder that some states are relaxing their gun laws. Just like the drug war, why pour money into a losing cause? Let the dumb s.o.b.'s kill themselves if that's what they want and let the ones who don't drug it up or commit crimes protect themselves from the dumb s.o.b.'s.

Drugs are illegal. If they ever are legalized, they will be heavily regulated.

Alcohol is treated as a public health issue.
Drugs are treated as a law enforcement issue, but there is some study of their public health impacts.
The pols representing cowardly ammosexuals like homerfobe have banned federal study of the public health impact of guns.

Drugs can harm people or not, mostly not (zero pot OD deaths in 10,000 years of use), while the only purpose for non-hunting guns is to harm people.
