Oh, the GOP platform was pretty specific, unlike the last minute adjustments that the Dems had to make on the convention floor.
My point is that Plan A would have worked if the GOP had skipped the "my turn next", party insider nomination of Romney and had a candidate who really excited the base and independents. And based the voting pattern for Romney, one has to guess that seven million white votes might have tipped the scales.
The GOP is running out of groups to pander to.. They've done the radical religious right.. the racist rednecks..
I think we can look for them to really stand behind state's rights (rather then just lip service) and advocate for the decriminalization of Marijuana..

One version of the bill - not the law - was over 2000 double-spaced, wide margin pages. The law, as passed, was about 900, also double-spaced, wide margin, and including a lot of boiler-plate yammer present in most any long bill. Each of those pages averaged about 200 words, which is about half of what you'd have if you used Arial 11 and normal 1.25 margins. In total words, the law as passed was about the same size as the Wisconsin two-year budget legislation.
I'm sure there are a lot of things to criticize in the law as passed. Why is it necessary to couch legitimate criticism in myths created by Karl Rove's phrase machine? Yes, I know - you were just using "2000 pages" as an example of what a "real" plan might be. But it's still inaccurate. BTW, if you'd like to read the law so you'll be at least as informed as Nancy Pelosi, it's here... http://housedocs.house.gov/energycommerce/ppacacon.pdf
Big O's second term agenda has been on his website for a while. Mittman and anybody
else could have found it there, if they had really wanted to, but of course they really didn't.
OTOH I take any pol's plan with a good dose of salt. Anybody surprised the nutters would
be sore losers? Not me baby.

Yessirree, Buddy. You got it.
I'm praying for a Bachmann/ West or a Palin/ DeMint ticket.
You said "The details of the Obama plan, like it or not, were linked near the top. Didn't you notice?"
Yes I noticed! Did you? Obama, tell us how you are going to create 1 million jobs. You couldn't tell us during your first 4 years so tell us how you are going to do it in the next 4 years. He's been all talk since his campaign of 2008 and he's still at it.
According to CNN's exit polls, 55 percent of women voted for Obama, while only 44 percent voted for Mitt Romney. Men preferred Romney by a margin of 52 to 45 percent, and women made up about 54 percent of the electorate. In total, the gender gap on Tuesday added up to 18 percent -- a significantly wider margin than the 12-point gender gap in the 2008 election.
Click the CNN link for charts.
My chart was not gender specific...do you have any information about the total number of women voting in 2012 vs. 2008? And the idea still stands....would the 7 million missing voters have given Romney the election?
It's pretty disgusting when women voted for a candidate simply because they agree that children should be slaughtered at the rate of 2500 per day. Pretty sick statistic for one to be proud of, poochminder.
No, I can't find the total number of women who voted in 2012. How many of the seven million missing voters were women? I daresay we'll get more statistics as time passes. I have found that a slight majority of white women voted for Romney. Too bad; the fat cat white woman is going the way of the fat cat white dude. The percentage of Hispanic and African-American women voting for Obama was higher than that of their male counterparts.
Personally, I think it's disgusting that people like you and superpossum think abortion is the only issue that matters to women, the only reason women voted for Obama. It's also sick for women to support a party with idiots like Akin. Oh, that's right - he got the boot.
Remember, we are 54% of the electorate. Be afraid; be very afraid.

You obviously didn't investigate either link that was posted.
I agree with Partisan62 the GOP needs to stick with a conservative message. That being said, we have to quit nominating jerks like Akin and Murdoch. Karen Hughes summed it up today with her comment about those guys. The GOP can win, but the "one issue" pubs have to get over it and quit wasting ammunition on their own feet.

Not that Republicans are ever going to ask my advice, but if they did, I'd suggest something like this: Refine the "conservative message" into something that people other than serious ideologues can understand. Focus on economic issues and frugal money management. That's what you're good at. If you want a "smaller government" come up with a way to explain it and accomplish it other than random chopping of departments you can't remember the name of. Stop alienating large groups of the population. A lot of union members might be conservatives too, but they're not going to be Republicans when you take every opportunity to trash them. Cull the "message" of things that make you look stupid to a lot of people, like pledging allegiance to Norquist. No president or congress is going to change abortion law. Shut up and leave it to the states. Nobody is coming to take your guns. Support the Second without making it sound like you're a bunch of paranoid loons. Want to reduce taxes? Fine. Come up with a plan to do so that doesn't involve cutting vital services. Act like you understand that taxes are the only stream of revenue available to the government and a necessary component of sound fiscal management instead of something akin to armed robbery. Get out of people's personal lives and show them how your "small government" theory affects them positively.
I offered this advice before the latest election, but they ignored me, as I expect they will continue to do. Yay.

See if you can do that for us.
Indeed ...
Or we could double down on an Akin/ Mourdock. Call it the Rapepublican ticket.

Christie remains their best hope.
They'll spin the recent unpalatable-ness they have expressed and get over all that in a Romnyesque fashion.
It's already starting with Sean Hannity's rethinking (or evolution) about immigration reform.
It's gonna be interesting.
I'm sure all the wingnuts are hanging on Coulter's every word.
Bungalow Bill, start up that web-site! Just ignore the wingnuttiness.

Yup. For the Republicans that's three strikes against her.
Others wouldn't support her because she's a war criminal.
"The president instructed us that nothing we would do would be outside of our obligations, legal obligations, under the Convention Against Torture. And so, by definition, if it was authorized by the president, it did not violate our obligations under the Convention Against Torture."

And it probably doesn't help that thanks to her lobbying on Chevron's behalf, Chevron named a 129,000-ton supertanker the SS Condoleezza Rice back in 1993.
