Obviously there's some degree of posturing here, but at least he's saying the right things...

great idea partly. maybe they could lose about 10 senate seats and 50 or 60 in the house by continuing to block and and all meaningful legislationPartisan62 wrote:

Fish Head's imagination is interesting. It is less than a week after the election. Obama won a large majority of the electoral votes, but the popular vote was not that lopsided. Keep in mind this is now Obama's economy.

It was not a popular vote landslide, but was not a sneak-by, either. A 2.7% margin is better than either of W's terms, better than Carter's win, better than Nixon's first term and better than Kennedy, who did have a sneaker at .17%. Yet I think we'd all agree that all those Presidents had a different impact on the US than their opposition might have had. If the popular vote percentage actually mattered, W would have had to incorporate some Gore in his policies and priorities.Supsalemgr wrote:Fish Head's imagination is interesting. It's still early and things can change, but Boehner seems to be replaying one of the Mittman's
themes--lower tax rates, eliminate certain deductions and loopholes (don't ask which ones,
we'll figure that out later) and maybe, just maybe the math will add up. If that's his strategy,
I hope Obama doesn't fall for it, but let's face it, Obama is not known for his backbone.
