The law breaking cop also endangered the other patients in the ED that was suddenly short staffed. That could have been me. At the least she's gonna get a nice fully paid for vacation out of the settlement or lawsuit.

You are my hero. That could have been me. I've also refused to draw blood when a patient was obviously too impaired to give informed consent. However, those cops were better, they rapidly got a warrant. Thank you for putting patients, policy and the law ahead of abusive police demands.

FYI, there is "implied consent" for us to diagnose and treat unconscious patients, but not to do involuntary evidence collection for the cops. In other words, the ER rapidly knew what was impairing the driver, just not with the chain of evidence requirements that are needed for trial.
