Question. When evacuating, especially in dire conditions like south Florida, what about prisons? I'm talking maximum security down to county jails. What happens to them?
Usually they don't move them. Prisons and even local jails can resist hurricanes and they aren't usually in flood areas. There was a picture from Katrina, though, of prisoners up to their waists in water inside the jail. The prisons have generators and most have systems to lock down if the power fails. I'm guessing, however, that Barney would probably just let Otis out.

The current models show the white line average track on FL's eastern coast, but at Category 5 all of FL still gets devastated. Could even be worse for you since it'll retain strength by not being on land. Then, it makes landfall again at Charleston, SC and eventually goes straight through my Hendersonville, NC.
Weather channel this morning showed the European model with highest chance of being in the gulf before turning to the north.
But I'm would much rather that you be right....

I'm way west of all the estimated tracks I've seen, but this right turn before the hot gulf water makes this thing bigger is beginning to look like a fantasy
