Nothing Has Changed
I am sure everyone saw the lineup of lefties Obama had at the WH today. He even brought Moveon.org out of the closet along with his old buddy Richard Trumka, who was not in the closet. That is fine with a whopping mandate of 50% of the vote. He won and to the victors go the spoils.
I see John Kerry is being considered Secretary of Defense and liar Susan Rice as Secretary of State. If some of the libs who disparaged me for saying Obama was a total lefty. Well folks, here is the proof.
I have never believed anything Obama has said as I watch what he does.

Only because you have no clue as to what a "total lefty" actually is. But maybe you're right. Maybe Obama is one and he's going to act like it. We can only hope.Supsalemgr wrote:... If some of the libs who disparaged me for saying Obama was a total lefty. Well folks, here is the proof.

Yo, Super-S - who would you like to see for Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, and why?

Can't answer because who a GOP president would appoint is moot. As part of the loyal opposition I have the option of disagreeing with what the dems do. Let him appoint and the GOP will take the appropriate "shots". It would probably be interesting to see Ms. Rice explain her visits to the Sunday shows. "Lurch" would get better treatment as a member of "the club".O Really wrote:Yo, Super-S - who would you like to see for Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, and why?

This isn't the UK, Super-S. The opposition in the US is hardly "loyal." But nevermind the partisan politics of it - who would you like to see in the offices?Supsalemgr wrote:Can't answer because who a GOP president would appoint is moot. Chris Christie -- the Pub flavor of the month just a short while back -- is definitely a hard-left total lefty. Lindsey Graham is a lefty.rstrong wrote:Translation: They're not right of Santorum/Palin/Bachmann/Gingrich. Obama would have to be very careful appointing Kerry, especially to Secretary of Defense. One, the nutjobbers would play his testimony 24/7, and I don't think it would go over well with the military. Secretary of State, maybe.
More importantly, Scott Brown would love to run for Kerry's seat.
Maybe this is just smoke.

O Really is not as dense as his post would indicate. He is baiting. I don't have a dog in this fight. I just commented on the names that have been floated by the administration. You talking about union-president-before-he-was-a-union-buster Reagan? Pro-choice Reagan? Tax-raising Reagan? Mulford Act-signing Reagan? Brady-Bill supporting Reagan? Reagan with Buddhisty-ballet-dancing kid?Stinger wrote:

That the Reagan you're taking about?

It's not baiting. It's a simple hypothetical question. And I wouldn't make my pick "as a lib." I don't see that generic ideology is that important in those jobs. That's part of the problem with your side - it's all ideology all the time.Supsalemgr wrote:O Really is not as dense as his post would indicate. He is baiting. I don't have a dog in this fight. But to answer the question you refuse to: Petraeus probably would have gotten Defense if he hadn't stepped in it. I would have been fine with that, and he's hardly a "lib." I think a good candidate would be someone who was maybe a career officer, but has been out, perhaps in politics, for a while. Civilian leadership is good, but the leader should be familiar with miltary issues, too. It shouldn't be much on-the-job training. I'm not familiar enough with those who fit that profile to name a specific name. For State, I'd want first a diplomat, possibly even someone from the professional group. I might consider the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but I agree with Stinger that Kerry has too much baggage to be Secretary of State. I'd probably interview Huntsman. But first I'd beg Hillary to stay.
Now are you going to play, or just carp?

Re: Nothing Has Changed
Rice was not a liar, she was just relying on talking points from the CIA. There was a lot of
confusion in trying to nail down exactly what happened in Benghazi on that day. That's
the way these things work--it takes time to sort through things. The nutjobs never quite
figured that out, which isn't exactly a huge surprise.

B, according to your link there was mcuh confusion as to why the attack occurred. So why did she elect to say anything other than we are still trying to sort things out. Under the circumstances that sort of answer would have been acceptable.

It appears my post got the libs really going tonight. O Really I am not going to play your game. How many times do I have to post it is not my or the GOP's call?
Just for fun, I will say John Bolton for SOS and Oliver North for SOD. See how non serious those are in your world? Think they would fit in with Obama, Holder and Jarrett?

Bolton would be qualified from a knowledge standpoint, but he is no diplomat - starting with maintaining good relations with his own staff. Too much drama. Oliver North hasn't been involved in anything but commentary for twenty years or so, and he's probably a bit rusty. He also has more baggage than Kerry. But thanks for your answer. See, I didn't bite.Supsalemgr wrote:It appears my post got the libs really going tonight. O Really I am not going to play your game. How many times do I have to post it is not my or the GOP's call?

Good point. Absorbing a humiliating defeat after four years of constant bashing, I'd say the Republicans don't have much swagger left.Vrede wrote:Re the thread title - Why should anything change? The Dems won bigger than anyone predicted. If the GOP doesn't change odds are the trend will continue.

The Republicans spent four years calling Obama, who grew up a black kid in a poor family, an elitist. They called him a non-Christian. They said he was shipping jobs overseas. They said he was ineligible because his father wasn't an American citizen. They said his grandfathers was a polygamist. They called his health care policy commie marxist socialism.
And then the Republicans nominated the ultimate eliteist, a non-Christian according to their own people, who demonstrably shipped jobs overseas. A man whose father wasn't an American citizen, and whose grandfather was a polygamist. A man who instituted the same health care policy a few years before.
In between they had Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich defending marriage.
Promoting Oliver North in THIS decade - a man who sent weapons to Iran and diverted the money to terrorists - is the perfectly logical next step for the Republican Party.
Well played, sir. Well played.

You may have spoken in jest, but there's a practical side to that. If the right side stays pissed off, the more likely they are to insist on a Santorum/Bachmann type ticket.Vrede wrote:... In fact, all else equal, I'm for staying the course just to piss off cons like Supsalemgr.
