I guess he turned it down because he already had a couple of those. But I think I'll send a donation to the Guggenheim.

I would rather have the golden toilet, though the "somewhat fragile" is worrisome.

That gold plating was once a sound financial investment.
This was before banks. If you kept your gold as coins, you were asking for it to be stolen. But a gold plated tub and loo couldn't be carried off. And it would take too much time for a thief to scrape the gold off. In times of financial crises or unrest, you'd have time to scrape the gold off yourself.

Meanwhile in Ottawa....
CBC: U.S. Embassy worker refuses to pay back rent, claims diplomatic immunity
The function of an ambassador is to transmit accurately the values of the administration that sent him or her. Apparently the staff feel the same obligation. This one certainly gets points for accuracy.

Re: President* Trump
One of the best comments I've seen in response to Trump wanting to fire Mueller. Hell, it's one of my all time favorites.
When I was a little kid, the ground was always littered with discarded popsicle sticks that came in very handy for scraping any Trump you might have stepped in off the soles of your shoes especially when the Trump was jammed in against the heel and couldn't just be wiped off by rubbing your shoe bottoms hard on a clump of grass. I was always very grateful back then for those popsicle sticks which saved me many a time from having to walk around all day smelling Trump.
This morning that terrible stench of fresh Trump is back in my nose. How I miss those simpler days gone by, when some thick grass and a popsicle stick would have cleared the air and saved the day.

"They even let Donald Trump have an airline, which he immediately renamed after himself, as is his classy practice despite the fact that "Trump" sounds like the noise emitted by livestock with gastric disorders. ("Stand back, Earl! That cow's starting to Trump!")"

At least the Democrats have found their anti-Trump to deliver the party’s response to President Trump’s State of the Union address.

Re: President* Trump
It's a shame that the Democratic leadership in the Senate and House are held in such low esteem that they don't do the rebuttal themselves. The person to do it, however, should be as a first criteria a great orator. A good speech or so in the right place and circumstances can make a President.
