Where We Are Now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL-a-r7i ... ature=plcp
This is a sad commentary as to what has happened in our society. We have created such an "entitlement" mentality that this young man doesn't see anything wrong with his actions. Multiply this by millions and we can see the magnitude of this problem. What is going to happen when we have stop all these give aways because we are out of money. It will be much worse than what is going on in Greece when the "freebies" are gone.
Folks, it ain't going to be pretty.

Re: Where We Are Now
Mr. Brooks does have the right attitude. He knows Judge Judy is more of a three ring circus
than anything else and so he's got the spiel down right. I watch it all the time and it's a hoot.
Every time someone mentions they're on a government program, Judy remarks about how
she and Byrd are paying for it. They must pay about 200 million dollars in taxes each. It's
really funny when she says the same thing about Social Security, not realizing that she
and Byrd don't pay for other people's Social Security. Hilarious.
In a related note, Cal Thomas has just released his annual or is it semi-annual column about
how the U.S. is going to hell, morally, financially and every other way, in a hand basket. How
many years has he been grinding out this column? The destruction is always just around the
corner, but it never quite gets here.

Re: Where We Are Now
Wow. To think there's anybody who would find a participant on "Judge Judy" to be typical of anything, or to be representative of "what has happened in our society" is beyond the pale. Not that they guy's not real, nor that he doesn't think the way he said. Sure he does. But they don't select people for those shows because they're the fastest hounds in the pack.
All's I got to say is if anybody takes the ones on "Judge Judy" as an indication of overall US society, I'd hate to think what they'd say if they ever saw "Springer" or "Maury," Probably fall right over like a fainting goat.

Re: Where We Are Now
It's true that people indirectly pay for other folks, but Judge Judy makes it sound as though
she is actually paying for others' SS through her income tax. She does the same thing
when people collect unemployment. She thinks she pays for UE instead of employers.
A guy like Brooks will show up on the show every once in a while, but his extreme attitude
is rare. He just knows a good circus when he sees one. Most of the folks are much more
subdued.

Yes I will defend someone who takes their own money and does with it as they wish. America is such a wonderful place isn't it.Vrede wrote:Multiply this mentality by hundreds of billions of dollars and Supsalemgr and Colonel Taylor defend it.

I'm sure Obama would like more of her Salary then he now gets. He would take it all if he could.
Judge Judy Sheindlin Makes $123,000 A Day, Roughly $45M Salary I'm sure she does pay for quite a few of these clowns.

What is your favored alternative to a graduated income tax?Colonel Taylor wrote: So why do you think folks who are successful should give their money to you anyway?

Re: Where We Are Now
My opinion is irrelevant to the discussion. Taxes isn't a topic I'm very interested in. But the Colonel keeps objecting to higher taxes on upper income, treating the concept as some Robin Hood deal of stealing from the rich. Everybody else is just talking about the tax rate - not whether the income tax should be graduated. So if he keeps harping about the graduated income tax, it seems reasonable to ask him what he would like.Reality wrote:What's yours O'R? You appear to be the go to guy of the lib front.
But to answer your question, I have favored a flat tax on all income, no matter how earned, with no exceptions or deductions for long before it was trendy or "libertarian" to do so. Relatively recently, I favor a national sales tax.

Re: Where We Are Now
I didn't know Obama was in favor of a 100% tax rate. Even Judge Judy couldn't afford to pay
for much of the government programs she always complains about.
Well Col. Thorny might be a good plaintiff on the show. He's always complaining about the raw deals
he gets. There is a $5,000 dollar limit though.

I don't know. I wouldn't want anybody to take that punishment, because she's an
arrogant, rude, loud-mouthed pain in the ass. The show is funny but she's a jackass.

I've seen her show once; she seems like she don't take no psychobabble. The colonel wouldn't last two minutes with her. She'd give him 30 days in the electric chair.Bungalow Bill wrote:I don't know. I wouldn't want anybody to take that punishment, because she's an

Don't think I ever watched her, dr. phil or any of the other trashy shows. I used to watch Dr. Oz once in a while though but don't even know if his show is still on anymore.neoplacebo wrote:I've seen her show once; she seems like she don't take no psychobabble. I find it interesting that the libs jumped all over Judge Judy in this thread, but stayed totally away from the jerk the post was about. I would ask if they think it is fine this deadbeat took taxpayer money that was intended for rent and he saw nothing wrong with not using it for that?

I don't think he should have used the rent money for anything other than rent. I also think Judge Judy is a pompous elitist who looks upon 98% of humanity as less than human. How's that? I jumped on Judy and disconnected Mr whatever his name is.Supsalemgr wrote:I find it interesting that the libs jumped all over Judge Judy in this thread, but stayed totally away from the jerk the post was about. I don't think he should have used the rent money for anything but rent, and he's an asshole for not paying his friend in addition to being a thief and a general sleazebag. But again, if anyone thinks this guy - or anyone on a court "reality" show - is "typical" or "representative" of overall American culture, then I just don't have a rational response to that.

Thanks guys. As for Judge Judy she is nothing more than an entertainer that I don't watch.O Really wrote:I don't think he should have used the rent money for anything but rent, and he's an asshole for not paying his friend in addition to being a thief and a general sleazebag.
