Everyone is dying, I must be getting old.

This carolina band played my jr/sr prom and many Auburn frat parties. Always thought they were an Alabama band.

Yeah, I remember them. They played a lot down on the "Grand Strand" at Myrtle Beach. Had no idea they (even in name) were still around.

I love surprise stuff like this:
Christina Aguilera Busks in NYC Subway in Disguise
Miley Cyrus Busks in NYC Subway in Disguise
I think I would have recognized Miley by looks and voice, but maybe not.

Lip Sync Battle with Emma Stone
Nice, she picked a couple of hard ones.

Full screen:
Old Movie Stars Dance to Uptown Funk
66 movies. “the Golden Age – meaning no title later than 1953 (although there is one at the end.) Oh, and none of these clips was sped up or slowed down.”
Brilliant, I can’t imagine how many hours must have gone into production.

"My inspiration came from":
100 Movies Dance Scenes Mashup (Mark Ronson-Uptown Funk ft.Bruno Mars)-WTM
Good, but I think Old Movie Stars is better, a lot more moments where I'm thinking 'Wow, how did they sync that so perfectly?' The student surpasses the master.

Re: The Music Thread
Donald Trump's Tone-Deaf Statement About Aretha Franklin's Death Is Raising Eyebrows
... "I want to begin today by expressing my condolences to the family of a person I knew well,” he began. So far so good, right? Well, things took a turn for the Trumpian with his next sentence: “She worked for me on numerous occasions.” What?
Did Donald Trump, of Apprentice and small-hand fame, just imply that one of the most iconic singers in American history was among those who do his bidding? Yes, yes he did.
Of course, regardless of any possible semblance of a business relationship he and Franklin shared, this is hardly the time to bring such matters to the public fore.
Trump went on to call the late singer, “terrific,” telling the crowd, “she brought joy to millions of lives and her extraordinary legacy will thrive and inspire many generations to come. She was given a great gift from God — her voice, and she used to well. People loved Aretha. She was a special woman. So just want to pass on my warmest best wishes and sympathies to her family."
Best wishes? Um, those are usually reserved for a bride on her wedding day, not a grieving family hours after their loved one's death ...
Naturally, the Twitterverse had some thoughts of its own: ......OBAMAS ON ARETHA: "Graced with a glimpse of the divine."
CLINTONS ON ARETHA: "One of America's greatest national treasures."
TRUMP ON ARETHA: "She worked for me."
#ArethaFranklin

Barack Obama Singing Respect by Aretha Franklin (ft. everyone)
Note: "ft." may mean FaceTime, though that would still leave me a little confused as to what "ft. everyone" means,

Gretchen Wilson ("Redneck Woman") gets run in for being "not a high class broad."

Maybe she should have listened to Hank Williams Jr song and wondered "why must you live out the songs that you wrote?"

Reckon if it's too late for a Commander Cody comeback?
It looks like George Frayne has a new album of old songs, or mostly old songs, and he's fer sure looking a little rough around the edges. Anyway, I liked him then, so
I'll listen.
Live at the Record Plant (Live) https://g.co/kgs/K6Jzgq
I'm sittin alone, Saturday night, watching the Late Late Show
A bottle of wine, some cigarettes, I got no place to go
Well, I saw your other man today, he was wearing my brand new shoes
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too
Never said better, but then, I can hear the pedal steel when I read the words.

Bad link, it just goes to a "live at the record plant (live)" search page without any Commander Cody links.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 1:33 pmReckon if it's too late for a Commander Cody comeback?

I found this, June 21, 2018:
Commander Cody & His Western Airmen - Roll Your Own
I saw Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen in 1975 or earlier, we've both aged.

Re: The Music Thread
Greetings to all.......just got plugged in today after several years of being unplugged. Music has always been a bigger part of life for me than religion or manners or general politesse and I hereby recommend the following: any of Lyn Stanley's records (she does a fantastic version of the old "Black Velvet" song, as well as "Fever" and "Love Potion Number 9" and "Whole Lotta Love"). Also, Vanessa Fernandez album "When the Levee Breaks" is awesome....covers of Led Zeppelin songs from way back. Anyway, I recommend everyone check these out. Cheers!
