Hard as hell to find out who didn't vote in the historic bipartisan 98 to 0 vote last week. I tried all kinds of Google searches of articles from our 4th branch of government, but was unable to find a single word about the two who didn't vote. No speculation, nothing about an able bodied senator hiding in his office, nothing about this non-voter having just returned from Russia where he shared his love for their government when he said, (watch out trump - he beat you to it) "we are competitors".


Without help from the media, we all know why McCain didn't vote, but who was the other non-vote?

Eventually I came across an article with the Senate Resolution number and went to the government site showing the vote. Among the long list of Yes votes were two non-votes, Senator John McCain and Senator Richard "we are competitors" Shelby.

Shirley with his name I will find an actual something about this. I did. I found one single, by itself, lonesome article from Salon; that's it, no more, nothing. I tried a really broad search - Shelby Russia vote - that's it, and I got one article about Shelby and ten thousand on the unanimous 98 to 0 resolution and all of Shelby's other resolutions.

NC's Leg. roll calls ID whether an absence is "excused" or just a nonvote. I guess the US Senate doesn't do that. S. Res. 584 just says, "Not Voting - 2: McCain (R-AZ), Shelby (R-AL)".

Unless he tells us otherwise, it's perfectly fair to assume that he abstained because he just couldn't oppose Putin and his Agent Orange even on this slam dunk resolution.
