Re: Terrorist trump
I think that probably the best thing is for us to suffer with him until the 2020 cycle because (1) if Trump is kicked out, he is probably right that there would be fierce backlash from the rabid core of his followers; this would also serve to unite all manner of wingnuts to the cause as well, resulting in more of a mess than we have. (2) if Trump is kicked out, we then have Pence, who is a pig in a poke at best and a lobotomized automaton in any case. It's basically the biggest "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation ever.

1. We should follow the law and Constitution, not cave in to terrorist threats.
2. IF Trump is kicked out it will only be because his crimes are so great and undeniable that 20 or so GOP Senators voted to convict.
3. Many supposed Trumpettes are really bots, Russians and paid Repug shills.
4. #2 will persuade and/or dishearten many of the sincere Trumpettes.
5. Radical actions by the minority wingnuts will further persuade decent America that #1 is the right course, and will damage the GOP for a long, long time. Plus, many of the terrorists will be killed or imprisoned, a good thing.
6. VP Q-tip is going down, too, if not for collusion definitely for the obstruction and coverup. 'POTUS Pelosi' kinda rolls off the tongue.
7. If it is POTUS Q-tip, he will be a largely impotent caretaker POTUS.
8. If it is POTUS Q-tip and since he's probably not clinically insane, he will compromise with the Dems in order to give some meaning to his brief and non-electable to a new term presidency.
All that said, I don't think that 20 or so GOP Senators will ever have the balls for #2.

POSPOTUS diet, weight, temperament and overall stress level make him a prime stroke candidate. Combine the Mueller investigation and he's now essentially a lame duck with a democratic house, his frustration and stress levels are going to reach new highs.
If I had to bet on a reason for him not to finish his term, I think stroke is where I'd put my money.

Are you referring to the "healthiest President ever", the one who is at "perfect weight" and is a totally "stable genius"?

More at the link.Nancy Pelosi walks out of the White House looking like a boss — and the internet is losing it
Nancy Pelosi walked out of the White House today carrying herself like a queen.
On Tuesday afternoon, the House minority leader, along with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., met the president to discuss border funding amid a possible government shutdown.
The conversation soon broke down, with Schumer accusing the president of throwing a “temper tantrum.” Although she was repeatedly interrupted by the president and completely disregarded at times, Pelosi reminded the world of her quiet strength and leadership skills, which she described later by saying, “I was trying to be the mom.” ...My mantra for 2019: Be the Nancy you want to see in the world.

Re: Terrorist trump
I agree with your #1. I think you underestimate the fury that would ensue if he were to be impeached and removed from office. After all, he's only president because of the pent up angst of "them" having a black president twice and I figure if he were totally disgraced / impeached / convicted, it would be as bad or worse than the civil rights unrest of the 54-64 era. But you're probably also right in your #2 in that most of the GOP leadership has sacrificed their principles and morality for this moron. And I think they also realize that they've stirred up enough fear and bullshit that they understand what would transpire should POSPOTUS be shit canned. But I could be wrong.Vrede too wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 1:03 pmIMNVHO:neoplacebo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 12, 2018 9:05 amI think that probably the best thing is for us to suffer with him until the 2020 cycle because (1) if Trump is kicked out, he is probably right that there would be fierce backlash from the rabid core of his followers; this would also serve to unite all manner of wingnuts to the cause as well, resulting in more of a mess than we have. Re: Terrorist trump
The Senate isn't going to remove him. (says the guy who insisted Trump had no chance for the nomination/election)
But the issue here is as much time as anything. The whole Mueller investigation and related state investigations are all so big, getting bigger, and very complicated that even if the Dems set out as soon as they could in January, it would be a while before they had completed impeachment proceedings. Then the Senate would either (a) bag the entire thing because Republicans; or, if the charges were so overwhelming they couldn't avoid it, they'd drag their own "investigation" until it was election time again.
Despite what it might seem, though, I think it's possible Trump might actually quit, claiming to be a victim as the most successful President in history, and having accomplished everything beyond all imagination, done in by a bunch of losers.

Re: Terrorist trump
Yeah, he could claim sort of a "peace with honorable mention" like Nixon did but I think his pride and ego preclude that. I would bet my life he won't resign.

Well I wouldn't be my life - or even my lunch - on what Trump might do. Maybe he could just consider resigning as "declaring bankruptcy" of his presidential project and feel right at home doing so.
