Trump Administration* - Fired / Quit

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

US envoy to anti-IS coalition quits over Trump's Syria move

Brett McGurk, the U.S. envoy to the global coalition fighting the Islamic State group, has resigned in protest over President Donald Trump's abrupt decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria, a U.S. official said, joining Defense Secretary Jim Mattis in an administration exodus of experienced national security figures.

Only 11 days ago, McGurk had said it would be "reckless" to consider IS defeated and therefore would be unwise to bring American forces home....

Yeah, I read that story earlier today. I think Mattis was put in an impossible position and this is the sort of thing where trickle down really does happen.

Add Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke to the list.

Also of note - his resignation letter was written in a red sharpie.

The biggest Trump resignations and firings so far

Not sure how many of these we missed, but it's good to have a recap of the major ones, anyhow.

Ah, well. As any admiral knows, there's basically only three courses of action in any given situation; batten down the hatches, walk the plank, or go down with the ship. :)

I think abandoning the ship is more likely here 😁

I don't know why, but I just finished reading Spicer's book "The Briefing" and will report that he's just as dense now as he was then....no remorse.

Firing people or forcing them to quit has been the only good thing that POSPOTUS has done for the economy.
Chris Christie Tears Into Donald Trump’s White House: ‘Amateurs, Grifters, Weaklings’
The former New Jersey governor appears to be settling scores with his upcoming memoir.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie reportedly delivers a savage critique of President Donald Trump’s inner circle in his upcoming book, Let Me Finish.

In an exclusive excerpt of the tell-all memoir that was obtained by Axios, Christie wrote that Trump has a “revolving door of deeply flawed individuals” working for him in the White House.

They are “amateurs, grifters, weaklings, convicted and unconvicted felons” who “were hustled into jobs they were never suited for, sometimes seemingly without so much as a background check via Google or Wikipedia,” he added in the tome, which is due out Jan. 29.

Christie, who was axed from the Trump transition team just days after the 2016 election, also said the president “trusts people he shouldn’t, including some of the people who are closest to him.”

“They set loose toxic forces that have made Trump’s presidency far less effective than it would otherwise have been,” he wrote. “If this tragedy is ever going to be reversed, it is vital that everyone know exactly how it occurred.”

In another excerpt published by British newspaper The Guardian on Tuesday, Christie accused Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner of conducting a revenge political “hit job” on him.

Christie prosecuted Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner, for witness tampering and tax evasion in 2005.

Apparently Raj Shah the deputy press secretary slipped out the back door on January 14. There goes their one person of color.

New tell-all book depicts 'out of control' Trump White House staff

An upcoming book portrays a White House staff under President Donald Trump that was "absolutely out of control" at times and often at each other's throats, according to excerpts published on Tuesday.

"Team of Vipers: My 500 Extraordinary Days in the Trump White House," which goes on sale next week, was written by Cliff Sims, who served as a special assistant to the 45th president.

The Washington Post, National Public Radio and Axios published excerpts from the 384-page book by Sims, who worked on Trump's campaign before joining the White House as Director of Message Strategy.

According to the Post, the book features "expletive-filled scenes of chaos, dysfunction and duplicity among the president, his family members and administration officials." ...
Director of Message Strategy for POSPOTUS does not enhance a resume.

I can't find a news article to confirm this, but it seems legit:

Activism works!

Last week, Social Security Works members demanded the resignation of Donald Trump’s Acting Associate Commissioner of the Social Security Administration for his harmful misogynistic and homophobic claims. And this week, thanks to you, Trump appointee Robert W. Patterson is no longer employed at SSA!

Social Security was built around the promise of universal fairness. In order to administer this critical and beloved program, we need professionals who will uphold the values of honesty and equality, not appointees who seek to divide us and undermine the future of the program.

In the coming days, the U.S. Senate is expected to vote on a full 6-year appointment for the new Commissioner of the Social Security Administration – this will impact the future of Social Security for generations to come.

Trump’s nominee, Andrew Saul, has no background in Social Security. In fact, his only qualification to lead the Social Security Administration is his hostility toward Social Security. Saul previously served on the board of the right-wing Manhattan Institute which publishes articles advocating for drastic cuts to our earned benefits.

Like Trump, Saul also believes that his wealth and privilege should make him above the law: In 2007, Saul was forced to drop out of a New York Congressional race due to unethical campaign contributions. And in 2012, Saul tried to lie “his way out of a trespassing rap by falsely identifying himself as a police commissioner.” We cannot entrust our Social Security system to this man....

Together, we must bring critical pressure to U.S. Senators and demand that they reject Saul’s nomination.

Thank you for fighting to protect and expand the earned benefits of millions of Americans.
