Oh, the hard-core Trumpers are in the cult. But there's not enough of them to get him re-elected. A lesser crazy could attract the non-Trump Republicans (who are currently in hiding, but still exist) as well as some lesser partisans who might be a bit uncomfortable with a Dem, particularly if it's a Progressive Dem. A non-crazy could likely kick ol' Bernie's ass badly, judging by the poll that found 72% don't want a Socialist (whether or not they know what a "Socialist" is) and also don't want an old man.

I think Biden is too old, too con, too Hillary.

Yeah, Beto is a lightweight with only his couple of terms in the House to really count. That's why IMNVHO he had to win his sharply uphill Senate race to get into the field. But he can draw and fire up a crowd, get enthusiasm from youngish people, Hispanics, and those who don't want "more of the same." Too bad about the otherwise lack of cred.

I agree that Beto is light on credentials, but I can maaaybe get onboard if he's able to ignite passion that others can't.

I think a stand-alone Biden is too old, too, thus the teaming with Beto. And truthfully, I don't care if they're white males or whatever other than somebody who might be able to bring some sense of normalcy back to the government and its relationship with the citizens. I might like less centrist policies personally, but I don't know if it would do anybody any good to just make a wide and rapid swing for one extreme to another. I'm willing to put up with one bland administration just to fix the damage, and then move on to bigger and better plans later. It would be nice to have somebody in office that half the country doesn't hate with a purple rage. Somebody that maybe most everybody could say, "well, I don't agree with everything he does, but he's not bad..." This is not the candidate I would like ordinarily, but we are definitely not in ordinary times.

I think the Dems will have a mixed gender and/or race/ethnicity ticket. Someone will rise to the top and then pick a running mate in order to look more "normal" (white male) or to enthuse a particular demographic.

Republican attack on Cohen over paperwork falls flat

Meadows is my Rep., and I think banni's and GoCubsGo's Rep. He has always been a sleazy, lying idiot, a standout even within the Repug cesspool of sleazy, lying idiocy. Along with billy.pilgrim, we are being tested.

Meadows also brought up a black woman - a high ranking HUD official with no qualifications other than having been an event planner for the POSPOTUS Klan - to supposedly refute Cohen's charges of Dolt .45 racism. Then, Meadows did all of the talking for her. I'm embarrassed for everyone.

I didn't watch the token black lady escapade, but really, even if she had spoken earnestly and eloquently on how well Trump treated her, or how she personally never saw any racism exhibited by him, it wouldn't offset all the other dozens of documented instances showing him to be a racist. And for Meadows not to realize that even had his stunt "worked" it would be the same as saying "I've got nothing against black people - my favorite basketball teams has black people on it..." - just shows how totally tone deaf and stupid he is. I guess you could blame it on Meadows having formerly been "a Florida man."

... The pro-Trump America First Policies group is launching two television ads this week in support of Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Mark Meadows of North Carolina, the group tells CNN. Both are ardent supporters of the President on Capitol Hill and on the cable news circuit.

The $100,000 ad buy is a sign that Trump-aligned groups are rewarding those loyal to the President.

Both congressman come from reliably Republican districts, but that could change. In Ohio, Democratic groups have filed a federal lawsuit that could change the congressional map, and the Supreme Court is scheduled to take up the North Carolina General Assembly’s appeal of a trial court ruling on a gerrymandering case later this month....

The ads feature video of Meadows and Jordan standing with Trump — literally — and urge supporters to call the Capitol switchboard and thank the congressmen “for protecting America.” The ads also highlight Democratic billionaire Tom Steyer, who has bankrolled millions of dollars of television commercials calling for the President’s impeachment.

The congressmen, per the ads, “(stand) up to socialists,” noting their votes on regulations and taxes and their support of Trump’s border wall — all themes that the Trump campaign is expected to hammer throughout the 2020 race.

The ads, which will appear on broadcast and cable networks in Meadows’ and Jordan’s respective districts, will run for one week starting Wednesday.

I must have been "lucky" enough to see one of the very first airings this morning. America First Policies PAC has former Fox News host and Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle serving as vice chairwoman. I could not find the ad on their website, YouTube or by googling yet, but I'm sure it will appear in the next few days. It's even more disgusting than you can imagine.
