History 101 fox style

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

History 101 fox style

Unread post by billy.pilgrim »

I’ve always been a little amazed at right wing “history”. Not the history of the right, but the insane blatant lies that they push as history.
Early on I remember hearing that end of the Great Depression had nothing to do with FDR and was all about the war creating jobs. It didn’t take me long to ask if that meant they supported huge amounts of government spending to give people jobs and help the economy. I never got an answer.
So too goes most of the right-wing bullshit about everything from a sky fairy giving away other people’s land to trump claiming he didn’t say, “Tim Apple”. Some inconsequential and we all get to laugh at trump lying about a video of him saying Tim Apple. Other lies have more weight and not only destroy millions of lives but leave the right with an easy political attack to perpetuate more of this crap.

I have, for now, stopped watching and listening to all news, but it’s hard missing all the headlines on Google, so yesterday I opened the fox amuse article by their resident black economist, who did most certainly proclaim on national television for all the fox watchers that it was FDR who caused the Great Depression with his New Deal.

Once more - it was FDR who caused the Great Depression with his New Deal.

Probably just as bad – I’ll bet a dollar to a 5 cent doughnut that none of the so-called liberal networks have made any effort to show what actually caused the GD or what Reagan, bush and trump have done to steal the wealth of this country again.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

Yep, it was the massive government spending. There was nothing magical about it being on warfare. There's even more to the story. FDR's ambitious pre-war social spending was working. Then, under relentless Repug pressure it was scaled back and the recovery faltered until the war spending began.

Yeah, babies. That's the grand strategy; lie profusely and continuously so that eventually some people will not know what's true and what isn't. They've been at it now for a decade and it's starting to take hold with the ignorant and gullible and scared. It gets more blatant all the time.
