Re: Immigration
Trump Reportedly Tells Stephen Miller: You’re “in Charge” of Immigration
A purge is currently underway in the Department of Homeland Security. In the wake of Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen’s resignation Sunday, a slew of top DHS officials appear headed for the exits as President Trump and his dead-eyed policy adviser Stephen Miller look to ram their immigration priorities through no matter the cost or consequence. It is part of a broader seizure of power by the White House in an effort to implement its noxious—and typically illegal—immigration policies. In fact, Trump is reported to be keen to resurrect the most controversial and amoral of all his anti-immigration ideas—separating families at the border as a means of deterrent.
With potential crimes against humanity in the offing, it should surprise no one that the Wall Street Journal reports Trump is handing over the reins on immigration in America to his trusted henchman, Stephen Miller.Administration officials told the Journal that while Miller has always been active in DHS’ immigration-related decisions, Miller has been newly empowered by a president spoiling for a fight on immigration. An administration official said Mr. Trump recently told Stephen Miller, one of his most hard-line advisers: “You’re in charge” of the administration’s immigration policy… Mr. Miller, the White House adviser, is also pushing to reinstate the [family separation] policy, according to people familiar with the discussions. In recent weeks, he has pushed officials at the Homeland Security and Justice departments to “get in line” with a more aggressive approach to immigration, one of the people said.
Gulp.

Re: Immigration
Just when you thought that this headline was no longer even possible . . .

That was fast for a new "Worst Tweet in History".Donald Trump’s Ilhan Omar Tweet Might Be the Worst Tweet in History
... 1. It’s dishonest....
2. It’s racist....
3. It arguably incites violence....
4. It’s hypocritical, opportunistic, etc....
5. It’s in all caps. All caps makes everything 50 percent dumber.
It’s a crowded field, but I think you could make an argument that, given the reach of Trump’s account and the stakes involved—him being, you know, president—the Omar tweet was objectively the worst one ever sent. Or at least you could have made that case until Monday afternoon, when Trump used Twitter to send firefighting tips to the nation of France. It turns out that this suggestion could have caused the total collapse of the entire structure. Truly, we may not live in the worst moment in history, but we certainly live in the one that most resembles being trapped inside a TV that an angry, racist crank is shouting at 24 hours a day.Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!

Be honest with yourself hater, almost anybody, Bernie, Ilhan Omar and I would have a better conversation with Auburn's basketball coach, Bruce Pearl, than either you or trump would or could.

Was it "God’s Plan" that Clemson not make the NCAA tourney and then get upset in just the 2nd round of the also-ran NIT? Otoh, 1 FAT CAN has chosen not to mention Passover even though I did and 1 FAT CAN posted just 2 posts later and then 6 more times on the page. Seems that 1 FAT CAN is a sleazebag exploiting Jews for bigoted purposes rather than having any actual fondness or respect for them. Shame.Ilhan Omar

Of course, Ilhan Omar has NEVER expressed anti-Semitism. She merely disagrees with apartheid Isreal's GOVERNMENT policy and Americans' support for it.
In other words, 1 FAT CAN chose Christian Holy Week to join the hateful shrieking Repugs by expressing her/his pitiful religious bigotry and Buybull-condemned hypocrisy, and by committing Commandment-level sinful false witness in portraying Ilhan Omar as an anti-Semite. Repent! If not today of all days, when?

Re: Immigration
Thank you for contacting me regarding the vetting of refugees and individuals entering the United States on visas. I appreciate hearing from you.
As you may know, executive orders issued by President Trump have halted entry of foreign nationals from countries that are known hotbeds of terrorism for various periods of time. Affected nationals include those from Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. These travel restrictions are subject to categorical exceptions and case-by-case waivers.
Under the orders, the Department of Homeland Security is required to implement improved vetting procedures for refugees, and foreign countries have to provide the necessary information to prove their citizens seeking entry into the United States do not pose a threat. Certain aspects of President Trump’s executive orders were challenged by the lower courts, the Supreme Court agreed to hear arguments on the travel ban on April 25, 2018. On June 26, 2018, a decision was passed down to uphold President Trump’s executive orders.
America has always been a home for refugees fleeing persecution and seeking freedom, and I firmly believe that it should continue to be. At the same time, we must also be mindful of the sad reality that radical Islamic terrorists are actively attempting to infiltrate the refugee and visa programs and enter western nations. Our refugee and visa programs pose significant vulnerabilities, and strengthening the screening of refugees and gaining increased access to the backgrounds of foreign nationals are matters of national security....
Sincerely,
Thom Tillis (R-NC)
U.S. Senator
You lie about Venezuela being a known hotbed of terrorism.
You lie about North Korea being a known hotbed of terrorism. It's a nasty nation, but its terrorism is focused and rare.
You ignore the fact that vetting is already very stringent.
You ignore the fact that other hotbeds of terrorism, client states Iraq, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, and Trump-idolized Russia, are not subject to the ban.
You ignore the fact that here in the US, each decade since at least the 1970s, most domestic terror attacks have been perpetrated by white, male, often Christian, cons.
Admit it, this is about Trump's bigotry, his pandering to his bigoted base, and your weakness, not our safety.
Sincerely,

Good work, though. I never get anything back from Phil Roe or Marsha Blackburn. I've never written to Alexander; he's a living corpse. In any case, my correspondence to them, even though it vigorously invites a response, never results in a response. Maybe I need to be more forceful.

One trick I got told long ago is that one has to request a response. It doesn't always work, but my ending each comm that way seems to help. Never mind if you meant "vigorously invites a response" literally. One can get on a shitlist and never hear from them again.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:06 pmGood work, though. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm on a shit list with both of them. But it's only fair; after all, they are both on mine. Whatever I tell them, neither will change the position they have and it's not likely either of them will convince me to change mine. It's an adversarial relationship at best.Vrede too wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:56 pmOne trick I got told long ago is that on has to request a response. I use to write, email and call my rep, Jeff Miller. His office would respond with a form letter thanking me for my interest and explaining that due to the volume of requests they receive it would be a couple of weeks before anyone would contact me, but no one ever did.
I need to give tiny dick Marco another shot, I find what happened hard to believe as intentional.
My only experience with Marco was during 2014 or 2015. I couldn't get my son on our aca insurance and figured a repug might be interested in my aca horror story, so I called Marco's Pensacola office.
The person I spoke with asked a lot of questions and seemed interested in helping. She said that she would call back by noon the next day.
I also called Bill Nelson. They told me the same.
Nelson's office returned my call that afternoon. They had assigned someone to my case. He said that he thought he would be able to solve our problem.
When Marco hadn't called by the next afternoon, I called them. The phone would ring two or three times and the line would go dead. This continued to happen for a couple of days until I lost interest.
Did they check my voter registration before wasting time on a dem?

Seems so paranoid. I wish I had tried after a week or so.
