I can view NY Times articles.
I have no NY Times account.
I have no idea why I'm part of this tangent.
I know how you, too, can view NY Times articles without an account, but since you're an asshole . . .

Oh, you have a NY Times account to view material and Vrede doesn't. Nice try Neo, do you have a credible link that non-subscribers may view?
No, I have no NY Times account; I was able to read the story on my 13 year old Windows Vista computer. The story did say two states; Maine and either NH or VT have no restrictions on felons voting; they can vote while incarcerated. Several other states have varying levels of allowing felons to vote. Some states deny felons the vote forever. That's the gist of the article.
Nothing about Trump receiving 50% of the vote?

No, I did not see that in the article; I thought you were questioning the fact that some felons can vote and some can't. However, it's not unreasonable to assume roughly half of felons would vote for one of the two candidates in an election.....just like any other random group of people. Black felons would probably lean against trump, while white felons would probably lean toward trump. This should not be a big controversy. If you are that interested in the details, you can probably get official info from the state of Maine.

Inmates including felons can vote in Maine and one other state. At one prison, which is its own precinct, more than 50% voted for POSPOTUS.

Denver decriminalizes 'magic mushrooms' in historic vote

Voters in the Mile High City have decriminalized “magic mushrooms” by the slimmest of margins, making Denver the country’s first city to de-prioritize enforcement of the hallucinogen.

“WE WON!!!!” announced Decriminalize Denver after city elections officials released final preliminary results late Wednesday. The measure, 301, passed with 50.56% in favor to 49.44% opposed, a slim margin that is nevertheless outside the mandatory recount margin.

Supporters gathered more than 9,000 signatures to place the question before voters. Once the results are officially certified later this month, Denver police will be formally ordered to make enforcement of drug laws against mushroom users their lowest priority.

But opponents could pay for a recount if they want, potentially delaying implementation.

The plan doesn’t permit the sale or purchase of the mushrooms, and establishes a task force to examine the impact of decriminalization over the next several years.

“It’s a signal to the rest of the country that at least here in Denver we are ready to start remove some of these substances off the controlled substances list,” said Kevin Matthews, 33, who organized the decriminalization campaign. “A lot of people who signed our petition said they are tired to see people going to jail over what they choose to put in their body.” ...
They really are "magic". All of the reporting through Wednesday was that the measure had failed.

I'm not aware of any varieties that grow in the Denver area.

Idk, I found them in the Black Hills - not too different in climate.

I researched the psilocybin mushroom while in college, but couldn't find that any lived much north of the gulf coast. Today I see that wiki has them all over, including, as you say, the Pacific Northwest.

Reckon that's what happens when your school library only has one book.

Do the Black Hills type have strychnine?
That was a minor downside to the variety that grows around here and almost as far north as B'ham. As long as you drink lots of fluids (beer), no problem. Big time stomach cramps if no fluids.

Again, Auburn University's only book said that the Mexican varieties do not have strychnine.

Black Hills are more the Northern Plains than Pacific Northwest, but they've been huge in WA & OR for decades or more.

Idk about strychnine. We found them, we ate them, we didn't get sick.

The Auburn school library only had one book? Damn, you are old. And it was about psychedelic mushrooms? What are the odds? ;)

Generalities increase with distance. I've heard that San Franciscans consider Tennessee to be in the gulf coast area.

Of course you have heard the very too old joke

Did you hear about the fire at - insert rival school name here, we'll go with - Clemson?

No, what happened?

Their book burned.

Plenty of time for a memory fog. It could be that Mexico had the most varieties.
As I recall the only one with strychnine is the one here in the SE.

Ahem: the following University of Tennessee players were drafted by the 49ers or the Raiders, just across the street.
Ed Beard 14th round 1964
Keith DeLong 1st round 1989
Cory Fleming 3rd round 1994
Parys Haralson 5th round 2008
Todd Kelly 1st round 1993
Craig Puki 3rd round 1980
Cedric Wilson 6th round 2011
Mickey Marvin (used to live in Hendersonville) 4th round 1977 Raider Nation
Denarius Moore 5th round 2011 Raider Nation

I was going to say that San Franciscans adore, honor and respect the Blues . . .

but I'm not sure they know or care that Memphis is in Tennessee. ;)

Otoh, they recognize NC for its toilet-obsessed transphobia.

I love the Blues, but always prefer mountains. Plus, ETN has neoplacebo. Ain't one of those in Memphis . . . or anywhere else. I also wrecked my car in Memphis, but not in ETN . . . yet.

Thank you counselor. I concur. Actually my town has an illustrious legacy from WWII in the sense that the explosive compound RDX was developed here, first by small scale experimentation by Tennessee Eastman and when it proved viable was manufactured on a massive scale at the Holston Army Ammunition plant, which is still making boom today. Word was that we were on the Soviet hit list during the Cold War because of that facility.

Actually we're as well known for country music as the blues. And the only car crash I ever had was here. Gave me the blues as well as loose teeth when my face hit the windshield.....but I retained the teeth and to this day have never had a filling in a tooth. I still remember seeing the spider web like fissures in that windshield as I hit it and that was nearly fifty years ago. bam
