President* Trump

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

The White House has unveiled a new tool that allows citizens to complain about being suspended from social media services.

"Social media platforms should advance freedom of speech..."

I hate social media platforms.
I started to fill it out for Conservative Political Forum :D , knowing that I would reach something like this User Agreement.

No way am I gonna give those CP assholes access to my real world info. Should one of us do it for blueridgedebate just to see what happens?

trump's latest tweet above shows him whining about General Flynn being under investigation before becoming a trumpie and how he should have been told......Obama told the moron not to hire Flynn but he did anyway.

Trump a few days ago: it's outrageous my campaign was investigated by the FBI!

Trump today: Why didn't they tell me Flynn, a member of my presidential campaign, was found out to be a bad guy when the investigation was going on!

The president seems to be trying to spin it as the FBI just up and deciding to investigate his campaign "just cuz". Deep state and all that... I think this is what most people are being led to believe given the sound bites I've seen making rounds.

But in reality there was credible evidence some shady stuff was going on, hence his campaign being investigated.

Also, I seem to recall Obama going to McConnel about all of the shadiness, asking how to approach the matter without seeming biased. McConnel shut him down. Now, here in the present day where we gish-gallop down that endless road of confusion till our minds have been shaken into a slurry, the spin is "if election interference was so bad why didn't Obama do something about it and bring it to our attention!?"

They've gone full on scortched Earth against reality in the name of winning.

One can make the case that Obama should have ignored McConnell and been more aggressive, as was so often true during his presidency. However, what they are cowering and deflecting from is the fact that we all knew enough about the illegal Russian meddling by 10/2016 that POSPOTUS fanboys were and still are useful idiots for Russia.

"gish-gallop"

New to me, thanks.
Gish gallop

The Gish gallop is a technique used during debating that focuses on overwhelming an opponent with as many arguments as possible, without regard for accuracy or strength of the arguments. The term was coined by Eugenie Scott and named after the creationist Duane Gish, who used the technique frequently against proponents of evolution.

Technique and counter measures

During a Gish gallop, a debater confronts an opponent with a rapid series of many specious arguments, half-truths, and misrepresentations in a short space of time, which makes it impossible for the opponent to refute all of them within the format of a formal debate. In practice, each point raised by the "Gish galloper" takes considerably more time to refute or fact-check than it did to state in the first place. The technique wastes an opponent's time and may cast doubt on the opponent's debating ability for an audience unfamiliar with the technique, especially if no independent fact-checking is involved[6] or if the audience has limited knowledge of the topics.

Generally, it is more difficult to use the Gish gallop in a structured debate than in a free-form one. If a debater is familiar with an opponent who is known to use the Gish gallop, the technique may be countered by pre-empting and refuting the opponent's commonly used arguments first, before the opponent has an opportunity to launch into a Gish gallop.

Deutsche Bank staff saw suspicious Trump and Kushner activity – report

Wouldn't normally put much stock into it, but when the president is suing to stop information from flowing.... something shifty is going on.

Trump's done enough shady crap that one of the many things will finally take him down.

Trump works really hard to make sure he IS the news everyday. Having said that, however, I think it would be better for everyone if all the media would ignore him until/unless he actually does something - and sometimes even then. Covering every tweet and snark like it mattered doesn't help anyone.

Y'a know, I don't mind being called a "liberal" - if asked my political bent I might use the term myself, along with "lefty" "progressive" etc. But I do resent how well the right-wingers have transmogrified the term to mean simply "anybody I don't like." They call people "socialist" as a derogotory term, and have no idea what socialism is - or is not. They use "liberal" to apply to anybody that isn't as rabidly right-wing as they, without having a clue as to what "liberal" means or is. And yet, they'll never answer if you ask them what do they think a liberal is, and what specifically do they object to.

They also apply 'fascist' to lefties, which is an absolute contradiction in terms, when they really mean 'authoritarian'. Some of this is ignorance, some a deliberate obfuscation of the clear, sometimes literal, fascist tendencies within the right - 1 FAT CAN's closeted American Family Association, or example.

‘Terrible Idea’: Senators Slam Trump Plan To Pardon Vets Accused Of War Crimes
Sen. Mitt Romney said it would be “unthinkable” to pardon service members who were “legitimately convicted of committing war crimes.”

            Also appalled:
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), lieutenant colonel in the Iowa National Guard, Iraq War veteran
U.S. Army Gen. retired Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Barack Obama
Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Illinois Army National Guard Major, Iraq war double amputee after the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter she was co-piloting was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by Iraqi insurgents

The dishonorable, lifelong cowardly Chickenhawk in Chief plans to abet dishonorable, cowardly war criminals.
