The boy named Sue meets the girl named Marijuana
[A Woman Named Marijuana Pepsi Refused To Change Her Name, But Added 'Dr.' To It Just To Make The Haters Come Correct]

Seems that Marijuana Pepsi got a Ph.D., Sue just got to beat the shit out of his old man.
"Dr. Marijuana Pepsi decided to pick the dissertation topic: “Black names in white classrooms: Teacher behaviors and student perceptions,” a topic clearly informed by her own experiences."

It's stupid and cruel to name a child . . . Pepsi.

OK, so everyone is entitled to use whatever name they want (or were given), and spell it anyway they want to. Fine. Having said that, I really don't understand why someone would voluntarily go through life with a name that's a constant issue. I used to know a woman who spelled her name "Joan" but insisted she was "Jo An" in pronunciation. So she was always having to correct people she met, or, correct their spelling if they knew her as Jo An.
Or why would anybody think it's a good idea to be named "Roach" and then open a real estate office?

Besides, 'Marijuana Coke' would have kept the theme more consistent.

I sort of feel the good doctor is not reaching the summit of this type of direct action......she could, and should, have opted for "Dr Marijuana NoCoke Pepsi" and name all her kids "Chip" but this is only a suggestion. And this all reminds me of how many doctors, whether PhD, MD, DVM, DDS, or whatever with the last name Pepper. "No I can't go down and rob that bank again; I have to see Dr. Pepper today."billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 1:43 pm[A Woman Named Marijuana Pepsi Refused To Change Her Name, But Added 'Dr.' To It Just To Make The Haters Come Correct]

One of the first women I ever went out with after being divorced was a PhD at UNCA; still is. But I never called her "Doc" and she never called me "Sue." We had an understanding about that.

That said, she did spend 18 years dealing with it before she could change it on her own.

Sure, but lots of people go by names not on their birth certificate and before long even people who do know their legal name get used to the new one. Mari wouldn't have been bad, even "Pepi" or Mary J. But to have to introduce yourself your whole life as "Cocaine" would be tough.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 3:22 pm

Dr. Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck.
In comparison, one of our most famous Vandycks (different spelling) is named 'Dick'. 'Marijuana Pepsi' doesn't sound quite so bad now.

Names like Hunter, Gunner, Cayben, Clay, Bailey, Hailey, Kenzie have always irked me. I have no rational reason for this. No offense to any of you dudes if your name falls in that list. I can't really say much though. A while back I told some girl I met my name. She said I was making it up. I showed her my ID then she responded that my parents must've hated me.

Well, hopefully her name wasn't Wanda or Thelma. Anyway, you made it through that. I never really hated any names except maybe Nixon but I always was puzzled by these high falutin Southern families that had sons named Judge or Major. I mean, come on. What a colossal burden to saddle someone with. Better to name the guy Shithead or Dumbass or something folks can relate to.Whack9 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 8:33 pmNames like Hunter, Gunner, Cayben, Clay, Bailey, Hailey, Kenzie have always irked me. :confusion-scratchheadblue: Your name isn't common, but it's not that weird. I assumed your parents were rockers. I hate that girl, and her name.

My best friend is an Indian dude. He picked an American name which he uses when he introduces himself to new people, but I know him by his old name, so that's what I use. None of us were absolutely sure how to spell the shortened version of his Indian name, so as a consequence this dude has about five or six names now.

So if you've lived all your life named "Manute Bol" why would you think it's a good thing to name your kid "Bol Bol"?

Might not have been unusual in Sudan.
Oregon Duck, now Denver Nugget.Bol Bol
Early life
Bol was born on November 16, 1999 in Khartoum, Sudan to Ajok Kuag and former National Basketball Association (NBA) star Manute Bol as their first child. He was named after his late great-grandfather and Dinka chief Bol Chol Bol....
If he has a stellar career, would an arena named for him be the 'Bol Bol Basketball Bowl'?

Ha’Sean "Ha Ha" Treshon Clinton-Dix
So they named him "Ha'Sean" and wanted it pronounced "haseen" but nobody did, since most everybody else in America that has the name Sean pronounces it "shawn." But his grandmother called him "Ha Ha" and it stuck.
