WTF did he say?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

WTF did he say?

"So when I hear people speaking about how wonderful Al Qaeda is. When I hear people talking about some people, some people, with the World Trade Centre, some people, some people, no, much more than some people."

"Alcaida" and "Peopel" were the prompt words he (or somebody, yuk yuk) wrote on his notes. He was just trying to make sure he got those words in. Idiot.

Could have put this in Immigration or President Trump, but this will do.

If he presented in our ER these ravings would mean an automatic eval for acute severe neuro issues, including seeking an involuntary hold if he tried to leave.

Although he said this a few years back, I just saw it today.
Context - to Congress about casinos

"I think if you’ve ever been up there, you would truly say that these are not Indians.

One of them was telling me his name is Chief Running Water Sitting Bull, and I said, 'That’s a long name.' He said, “'ell, just call me Ricky Sanders.' So this is one of the Indians."

You would hold an Hispanic man against his will. Hmm... Thought liberals & liberal likes didn't approve of such things.

Not that it's much of an excuse, but at least that was business at the time, before 45SHOLE's foray into casinos collapsed into total failure. Otoh, his general racism has nothing to do with business, it's just his deplorable character.

Here Are 13 Examples Of Donald Trump Being Racist
He claims to have “a great relationship with the blacks,” which is totally something a normal person would say.

Interesting that Trump's still using the same pattern of speech he's always used, even though the context (he's President* now) has changed. He says things in a style that is intended to show knowledge, awareness, but with words that don't work so well upon transcription. The term "people say" implies that he's well informed and in a loop of communication. "Some people" implies that he's considering various views. He casts an impression without facts by saying "Something might have happened..."I don't know, could be..." All style and qualities that might work well with an interview with Imus, intended to entertain and enhance his public "personality" and image, but quite the opposite of what one would expect of a real President.

It definitely seems to have a hypnotic effect on a certain type of people.

It do.
But that's the whole point of that manner of speech. Sound like you know what you're talking about, sound confident and in charge, sound like you said something, but say nothing. If you take some of the ridiculous-reading transcripts and go back to the video, it doesn't always sound nearly as bad as it reads. Take gibberish, add in some cadence, tone, key words and attitude and you can create a very good impression on the poorly educated.

Some people will swallow anything, especially if it's delivered by an authoritarian. It absolves them from the need to think critically and from all responsibility for outcomes.

It's embarrassing to say so, given the context of Trump, but it's a technique lawyers use all the time. Don't look surprised by whatever happens - act like it's just what you expected and wanted to happen. Like a cat falling off the wall and walking away looking like, "I'm soooo cool." It does work, up to a point. I'm pretty sure Trump's past that point now, though, with so many people openly ridiculing him.
