Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

“It is absolutely racist and un-American, and it is an old trope. You might hear it on the street but you should never hear it from the president of the United States. This guy doesn’t understand his responsibilities and I don’t think he understands what the American people want from their president, which is somebody who is going to elevate public discourse and speak with a level of dignity with the goal of unity. … That’s why he needs to go.

“You don’t just say go back to where you came from which the president has a tendency to say to everybody he doesn’t like to look at.”

-- Sen. Kamala Harris
https://www.yahoo.com/news/kamala-harri ... 02626.html

... Harris called Trump a “so-called commander-in-chief” and added to her line that there is a “predator in the White House,” a dig at Trump’s ego. “And another thing about predators: they’re cowards. They’re cowards,” Harris said....

Tonight, PBS, 2200 ET:
POV: Bisbee '17

Community members in Bisbee, Ariz., commemorate the story of the Bisbee Deportation, when 1200 immigrant miners were taken from their homes by a deputized force, shipped to the desert on cattle cars and left to die.
First I've ever heard about it.

    Sen. Kamala Harris
“My entire career has been focused on keeping people safe,” she declared.

An investigation by the Sacramento Bee revealed the California attorney general’s office had secretly paid $400,000 to settle harassment claims against one of Harris’ top aides. The longtime aide, Larry Wallace, had been a key Harris lieutenant since her time as San Francisco district attorney.
Despite the scandal, Wallace was promoted to the position of state director once Harris was elected to the Senate. She fired him once the Bee started asking questions, claiming she had no knowledge of his troubles.
“Harris’ account also leaves out a number of more controversial episodes from her career in California, where advocates for criminal justice reform say her office was part of the problem, not the solution,” wrote Cadei. For instance, in 2010 a Superior Court judge in San Francisco ruled Harris’ DA office violated the constitutional rights of defendants in drug cases where a police drug lab technician, Deborah Madden, “systematically mishandled” evidence.

The scandal eventually led to the dismissal of hundreds of drug cases.

The judge in the case wrote that prosecutors “at the highest levels of the district attorney’s office knew that Madden was not a dependable witness at trial and that there were serious concerns regarding the crime lab.”

Of course — once again — Harris knew nothing.

“This country was founded on white supremacy. And every single institution and structure that we have in this country still reflects the legacy of slavery and segregation and Jim Crow and suppression.”

“I arrived at the age of 12 and learned that I was the extreme other. I was black. I was Muslim. I also learned I was extremely poor and that the classless America that my father talked about didn’t exist.”

Illegal is not a race. It is a legal term for the status of someone breaking American law.

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the law breaker.
It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions. - Ronald Reagan

Yep, it's racism, sexism, xenophobia, moronic jingoism, religious bigotry, unpatriotic, vicious hatred, blatant lies and pants-wetting terror of both the other and of 45SHOLE - the entirety of the Repug platform in a neat little package.

Here's another article by the author of the one above.
    http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/07/ ... gress.html
Hours before Team Blue’s 2020 hopefuls endorsed decriminalizing illegal entry, its House caucus approved $4.5 billion in new funding for the border crisis — without imposing strict standards on how that money can be spent. In doing so, House Democrats didn’t merely embrace a position to the right of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s, but one to the right of Nancy Pelosi’s. The House’s proudly moderate “Blue Dog” and “Problem Solvers” caucuses called the tune. They wanted bipartisan compromise without delay, and they had the votes to get it, their Speaker’s wishes be damned.

This wasn’t an aberration. Liberals may set the pace in Democratic discourse and presidential debates. But on Capitol Hill, the centrists often take the wheel. In May 2017, Pelosi vowed that House Democrats would pass a bill raising the minimum wage to $15 within 100 hours of taking power. It has now been six months, and that bill’s fate is still uncertain.
The Squad.... Hmm... Puppets on a string.

The power of de-humanization is great.
Make people remember MS-13 or nameless faceless people in immigrant camps and they'll forget about Carlos who has skillfully and faithfully tended their yard, picked their apples and veggies, installed their drywall and rock walkways, as well as their Hispanic-heritage accountants, lawyers, doctors and pharmacists. Not to mention half of major league baseball.
