Wingnutties out of control!

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I am so proud of Meadows, my district and the Leg that I could burst.
I have fond memories of the email I sent Mark that was chock full of what I thought about him and I ended my email with the fervent wish that his wife and daughters would be put on the street to be sodomized by blacks and Mexicans. This was several years ago; never heard back from him.
I get an occasional note encouraging me to write directly instead of signing petitions, otherwise noting. Not sure if I'm also blackballed - but not for racist misogyny - or if he ignores all petitions. Whatever I do, he will still be an idiot and an asshole, so I'm not putting additional effort into it.

The petition to Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX) reads:

"Stop accepting political contributions from the Koch brothers and return all previous donations immediately."
I signed without any expectation of impact, am sharing because he may just be the worst Democratic rep. Koch money is just a symptom.
... Known as "Big Oil's favorite Democrat," Rep. Cuellar has accepted hundreds of thousands from the oil and gas industry, and in 2018 alone, he received more than $140,000 from fossil fuel PACs. In addition to consistent donations from the Kochs, Cuellar was the second-largest recipient of campaign cash in the House of Representatives from the GEO Group, a private prison company getting rich off jailing immigrants and separating families.

While Rep. Cuellar promises that political donations from conservative interests don't affect his actions as a member of Congress, his voting record tells another story. In the last Congress, Cueller voted with Donald Trump nearly 70% of the time. He's received an "A" rating from the NRA and voted to fund Trump's border wall while publicly opposing it.

Unsurprisingly, Cuellar is an outspoken supporter of the fossil fuel industry and backs increased drilling, fracking and oil exports and does little to address climate change in Congress. As Waleed Shahid, from CREDO-ally Justice Democrats, put it, Cuellar "does not have a plan to tackle climate change. He has a plan to continue receiving money from his wealthy donors...You can’t take money from [the fossil fuel industry] and then try to hold them accountable. It just doesn’t work." ...
C'mon Meadows, you and billy.pilgrim's Gaetz are slacking.
Yeah, well, I don't typically use language like that; just wanted to send him something that would piss him off the most. Any talk about civic equality or anything else reasonable I figure he'd just shrug or laugh off. I wanted to rattle him and considered the best way was to address him in terms he could understand.

GOP chairwoman’s cynical stunt targeting Marine Corps vet backfires — big time

This week, Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), a decorated Marine Corps veteran who served in the Iraq War and is now running for president, received an interesting present from the Republican National Committee. GOP chairwoman Ronna McDaniel wrote to him demanding that Democrats respect the American flag.

“In recent weeks it has become increasingly clear that the proper respect and handling for the United States flag is an issue for the Democrat [sic] Party,” read the letter. “The American flag is a powerful symbol of freedom and independence that many have died to protect. It deserves to be treated as such.”

Leaving aside the condescension of lecturing a recipient of the Bronze Star about military sacrifice, Moulton couldn’t help but notice something: ...

Hey, @GOP thank you for mailing me the flag and a copy of the flag code.

Next time, show some respect and fold it properly.

I knew it was supposed to be folded into a triangle. I had no idea why or that it was so complex.

Folding is easy - twice lengthwise, triangle fold keeping the stars on the outside.

I'm not sure that I would believe all of usflag's god references. We're a secular nation. They even start with a lie:

The flag folding ceremony represents the same religious principles on which our country was originally founded.

Our country was not founded on any religious principles.

Good point. I guess I slid over that part. Really, I read it like this:

...information on tradition of flag folding...
yada..
fold over, this means something....yada
fold over again, this means something else.... yada
respect flag...fold carefully...don't drop...yada

I could be jumping the gun - time may tell, but there are two indications that the shooter is a white guy

1) the article doesn't say that he is black
2) a lesser point - "He got into his
truck
to leave

Call me bias

Yeah, Martez is black and my guess is a good example of how wrong bias and prejudice can be.

Another trip down the rabbit hole with America’s Dumbest Congressman

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX)

Okay. #2 is Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa).
#3 is billy.pilgrim's Matt Gaetz (R-FL) or my Mark Meadows (R-NC).

"What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest?" he said at a speech in Urbandale, Iowa. "Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?"
Would there be any Repugs left if we did that?
FTFY, Stevie.
"Considering all the wars and all the rape and pillage that has taken place? And whatever happened to culture after society, I know that I can't certify that that I am not a part of the product of that.”
Gibberish.

To cut Iowa just a little slack, its other 3 US House seats are Dem.
Since my Rep. is Freedom Caucus chair Mark Meadows, I appreciate having Steve King around to ridicule.

Meadows is a RWNJ, but not a whackadoodle (giving him a skosh of credit for not being over the top stupid).

I will agree that Meadows is "a skosh" better than Steve King, but no more than that.

Somehow the other one is more horrifying!!!
You are a national treasure, he is a national disgrace.
One Steve King is deeply messed up and scares the crap out of me. The other is America's most prolific horror and fantasy novelist.
One Steve King says stuff so creepy you can't believe a person even imagined it, and the other one writes books.
You write horror. He is horror.
To be fair, Iowa's bigoted Steve King is merely saying out loud what far too many Repugs believe.
