Ex President* Trump

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

trump has become a Florida Man according to Rupert's newspaper.

Small article on page 26 has funny dismissive headline

NY: Haha, you own him now, FL.

'Wildly incorrect': Daniel Dale fact-checks Trump's 2024 announcement

 The 3-time LOSER never quits.

Also in his 2024 announcement:
“We are going to be asking everyone who sells drugs, gets caught selling drugs, to receive the death penalty for their heinous acts.”

This is telling:
Fox Host Gives Blunt Opinion About Donald Trump, Right To Daughter-In-Law's Face

... “Those of us on the outside looking at it, it didn’t seem that he got the old magic, you know what I mean?” added Varney, previously a staunch supporter of the one-term president.

Lara Trump, a contributor on Fox News, predictably said she “highly” disagreed with that take. “The energy there at Mar-a-Lago was absolutely incredible. It really did to me feel like the 2015, 2016 campaign all over again,” she replied.

Conservative critics, though, slammed Trump’s address as “low energy” and attendees were reportedly blocked from leaving the event at Mar-a-Lago until he finished speaking....
TRE45QN staff blocking exits sounds like fire code violations and kidnapping to me. From Former PINO on down Cult .45 is a criminal enterprise.
Holding people against their will sounds more like Trump’s love life than a political announcement.

Poison sack lizards can turn and change direction in the goddamn blink of an eye. It's what's happening here in more of a slow motion three stooges type fashion. With any luck, trump will die soon and the lizards will scurry off to some other juvenile fascist maniac like DerSantis. Haircuts and church for everybody. Guns and freedom.

Y'all don't really think Merrick is going to do anything meaningful do you?
-0-?
Charges will make me happy, but not surprise me.
No charges will be disappointing, but not surprise me.
J6 could go either way, but it will be embarrassing for DoJ to have put all that effort into the Mar-a-Lardo docs without charging.
Then, there's the GA election interference, but maybe Fulton County will deal with that.
Is the Trump Org. fraud case federal or NY state?
Am I missing any potential federal criminal cases?
None, except for all the charges that should have been made over a years ago. Merrick simply slow walked them to death like the good republican he is.
Just watched Merrick announce the appointment of a special prosecutor to take over the Mar-a-Lardo docs and J6/related Big Lie actions cases. Jack Smith sounds extraordinarily qualified. TV news went into more detail than Wiki does. He will have independent authority to bring charges. Merrick made a persuasive case as to why a special prosecutor is appropriate, but he did not discuss why it's taken so long (even allowing for the 2-3 month pre-election pause). We lefties have made the case for charges for nearly 2 years.

Exactly.
Yeah, Merrick slow walked for trump.

Somebody, and it may have been billy.p, mentioned that Merrick is probably terrified that he'll get one or two trumpistas on the jury and never get a conviction. That doesn't change with the appointment of a special prosecutor, but it lets Merrick deflect blame in the event it happens.

I have said that trump probably can't be convicted due to at least one maga juror willing to lie to get on the jury and then ignoring the evidence to claim trump's innocence, but not to explain merrick's maga-love or cowardness or whatever prevented him from doing his job for over a year. It wasn't until the 1/6 committee became vocal about him doing absolutely nothing that he began to show some effort culminating in his passing it off to someone else.

Can't the new republican House stop the special prosecutor?

Why hasn't Merrick subpoenaed trump instead of leaving it to the brave but toothless committee?

I'm convinced that both Muller or Garland are trump loyalists. Nothing else makes sense

I don't think so, just like it can't stop any other DoJ investigation and prosecution.

He'd just take the 5th.

Mueller's report is pretty damning, and it was Barr that said a POTUS can't be charged and then the Dems that chose to not impeach based on the Mueller Report.

Garland's getting some heat. SP's are designed to prevent accusations of going too easy on someone from the AG's party, not the case here. However, if Jack Smith is more aggressive than Garland, I'll take it.

Different branches of government. What they'll try to do is cut funding but that's ways down the road and probably won't be effective unless they're willing to shut down government for it.

Since when do you subpoena the target of an investigation?

They're uber cautious and skeered of effing up.

Seems like he's made the choices all along.

It was Clinton's (the target) own testimony that caught him in a little lie that led to his impeachment.

We all know, including Muller and Merrick, that trump could never survive an interrogation. So why haven't those who could requested trump to come in for questioning?

If they find anything worthwhile they can hand it off to the Senate.

Good point, though the Senate does fewer investigations, I guess because of having less than 1/4 the number of members. Or, they can issue a quickie Committee report or a later Minority report.

They really just need to leak it.

The court of public opinion is probably the only trial and jury at this point.

As I've been saying for at least 18 months, merrick is all maga. I'm glad to see others begin to accept this. He pretends with little tidbits that the media eats it up. He did zero, squat until the House started poking him and then he drug out pretend investigation, which mostly involved requesting the unfinished House investigation. I imagine so he could turn it over to trump.

How long did it take Starr to request Clinton to testify under oath?

Garland?

And now here we are, slow walked to a republican House and soon, an end to any investigation.

I have to blame Biden. He should have never appointed this man and after seeing what a joke he made of the office, should have fired him.
If Joe can't do the job, he should step down. This was important, now it's gone.
