Interesting too, if you read the arguments against passage of the Fair Labor Standards Act in 1938 (minimum wage and overtime), it's the same as they're saying today about raising minimum wage. 83 years of being wrong and they're still pushing the same lame line. The only thing nobody has said out loud publicly about raising the minimum was said back in 1938, For example Congressman Mark Wilcox (D-FL-4) stated during

But a few Trump years and a covid pandemic and the place is just not visitable. The scum is now roaring around in their oversize tire trucks in mini-convoys with their flags flying. Saw a pic from the Kootenai fair - big crowds, no masks, lots of side arms.

Right-wing activist Laura Loomer confirmed this week she has COVID-19 and the symptoms have been “brutal.” In the past, she expressed an interest in contracting the virus so she could prove it’s no worse than food poisoning.

“Just pray for me please,” she wrote on Gettr, a social media platform launched by Jason Miller, a former spokesperson for Donald Trump. “Can’t even begin to explain how brutal the body aches and nausea that come with covid are. I am in so much pain. This is honestly the worst part about it.”

Last year, Loomer said she wanted to “get COVID” just to prove she’d had “bouts of food poisoning that are more serious and life threatening than a hyped up virus.”

“Have you ever eaten bad fajitas? That will kill you faster than COVID,” she wrote on Parler, another social media app favored by conservatives. Loomer, known for her anti-Muslim views and a failed Congressional run in Florida, has been banned from Twitter for three years.

“I believe when a few years pass, we will see that the vaccines will have killed more people than COVID,” said one of Loomer’s old posts. “How is a vaccine ‘saving lives’ for a virus with a 99.7% recovery rate? A bad case of food poisoning is literally more lethal than COVID.”

Council rep Hunter Pepper used his position of authority to literally end lifesaving mask policy and has also publicly supported anti-vaxxers. I can't imagine why whiny Useless defends a Decatur, AL COVIDiot asshole like that, but it absolutely makes him a COVIDiot asshole, too.

Choosing to avoid a covid vax for oneself may be stupid, but it doesn't make them an asshole. Spreading easily debunked misinformation from one's publicly elected office and creating unnecessary risk and actual illness for those they're elected to ummm "represent" is definitely assholery in the top degree. No different from somebody getting elected to city council and proclaiming that Flint water is pure, that there are no Florida sink-holes, that building codes are suggestions, and that kids eating Tide pods is just simple fun.
