Go:

@(13)Minnesota (8-0) +6 (5)Penn St (8-0). Respect for MN that the spread is that small  .
Maryland +42 @(3)Ohio St. Go get 'em, Terps.
Vanderbilt +25 @(10)Florida. Not sure about this one - private, red state, country music vs public, purple state, Don Jr host. A little help?
@TCU +1 (11)Baylor (8-0). One of the very rare times I'll root for TCU. Spoil that undefeated record!
@Virginia Tech +3 (22)Wake Forest. It'll be better if WF is unranked when it crushes Clemson on 11/16  .
(1)LSU +6 @(2)Alabama. Wow, 6 points is a gift. I would call it the game of the season, but 'Bama sucks.
@Texas -5.5 (20)Kansas St. My first favorite pick. Knock KSU out of the rankings!
@(16)Wisconsin (6-2) -9.5 (18)Iowa (6-2). Very tough one for me, especially with Warren now leading in Iowa. Thoughts?
(15)Notre Dame -6 @Duke. Idk, I want to root for Duke, but 6 seems ridiculously low.
@N.C. State +30.5 (4)Clemson. Yawn.
Iowa St +13 @(9)Oklahoma. Upset! Knock it out of the top 10.

3 games between ranked teams, 7 single digit spreads.

Mary-land continues to be used as a punching bag by less than mediocre big10 teams. Next up, Ohio State, if only I waited a week to visit family in Ohio.
Michigan football's blowout win more about just how bad Maryland is right now

It was homecoming weekend at Maryland.

But it was hard to tell.

Rows of seats were empty and swaths of gray concrete in the wings of the upper deck were visible at Capital One Field. Word around town was that there was a championship parade for some local baseball team about 10 miles away.

It wasn’t far-fetched to believe a bunch of Maryland fans were there to cheer on the Washington Nationals instead of the struggling Terps.

Well, maybe it's sour grapes that neither UNC, Miami, or Washington is on the list, thus eliminating the alma maters of the O Reallys. But I do notice that the list doesn't purport to rate actual voting behaviour or participation by students, but only whether the school signed up to participate in a particular program sponsored by NSLVE. A school could theoretically give each student individual training in voting, provide election candidate evaluation materials, give them rides to register and haul them down to vote and it still wouldn't make this list if it hadn't signed up for the program.

Yeah, saw that. Here's their website:

The National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE)

Enslave is an unfortunate pronunciation.

Things mentioned that might affect one's opinion either way:

Arises from:
In January 2012, the U.S. Department of Education issued a “call to action” challenging colleges and universities to support academic programs and experiences designed to increase student civic learning and engagement in democracy.
"Participation is free, easy, and protective of student privacy."
"More than 1,000 campuses and 10 million student records" - In 2015, it was recorded that about 4,627 institutions granted degrees.
"All 50 states
All institutional types"

NSLVE Campus Search

In NSLVE
Clemson
UNC Asheville
UNC Chapel Hill
Miami (FL)
Washington
Auburn
TN-Knoxville
Appalachian State

My physical alma mater - did not graduate, is not one of the "Best 80"

Yahtzee! :D

Not in NSLVE
Excelsior - my remote learning alma mater, did graduate

The site has a lot of generalized and demographic data, but I can't find that it posts the school-specific data it's collected. Could be that not doing so encourages participation.

In COLLEGE FOOTBALL news with the recent Florida State head coach firing, Maryland hasn't made a decision currently with it's leadership. Apparently, Maryland has become accustomed with losing, I don't blame the students or anyone else for not attending the games. You have to give the current coach credit though, he hasn't allowed a player to die under his watch.

College football rankings evidently do consider strength of schedule

1 - Ohio State

2 - LSU

3 - Alabama

4 - Penn State

Can't last past Saturday, but still ...

I don't have an opinion on #1 vs #2, but that is where both should be.
I agree with booting Clemson in favor of PSU.
As you say, on Saturday Alabama will either earn its spot or get booted in favor of:
Playoff Selection Committee Poll

5 Clemson (9-0) :bs: No ranked opponents.
6 Georgia (7-1) Ugh.
7 Oregon (8-1) Poised.
8 Utah (8-1) Ugh.
9 Oklahoma (7-1) Ugh.
10 Florida (7-2) Playoffs unlikely.
11 Auburn (7-2) Playoffs unlikely.
12 Baylor (8-0) Ugh.
13 Wisconsin (6-2) Playoffs unlikely :( .
14 Michigan (7-2) Playoffs unlikely :( .
15 Notre Dame (6-2)
16 Kansas State (6-2)
17 Minnesota (8-0) All the way!
18 Iowa (6-2) NR
19 Wake Forest (7-1) Big jump when it pastes Clemson on 11/16.
20 Cincinnati (7-1)
21 Memphis (8-1)
22 Boise State (7-1) Still seeking a big, non-playoff Bowl.
23 Oklahoma State (6-3)
24 Navy (7-1)
25 SMU (8-1)
Likely Clemson's best win of the season, Texas A&M, is UNRANKED.

My Ohio State family are excited. I told them to enjoy the cooler weather while they watch the Buckeyes annihilate the Terps. Oh yeah, Maryland won't have to be concerned about no one being in attendance.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum is often a Clemson critic when it comes to comparisons between the Tigers and top-tier SEC programs. But Wednesday on ESPN’s Get Up!, Finebaum took a stance that last night’s rankings were the best thing that could happen to Clemson.

“Dabo Swinney went out last night and got an RC Cola and a pizza and celebrated, because he can finally be an underdog again,” Finebaum said. “He didn’t like being No. 1. They didn’t play very well. And now, I think, Clemson is the most dangerous team in the country.”

“Who has beat Alabama in SEC? In the past five years? Ain't many,” Swinney said.

Georgia has quality wins over Notre Dame and Florida, but also that embarrassing 3-point loss to unranked South Carolina.

Like Clemson, Oregon, Utah and Oklahoma have no wins vs ranked teams.

Ignoring the 2-loss teams for argument’s sake, 8-0 Baylor, who I detest, has at least beaten (trounced) #23 Oklahoma State. Seems to me that it along with possibly Georgia, who I also detest, have strong cases for being ahead of Bama and Clemson.

8-0 #17 Minnesota also has no wins vs a ranked team, but that will change when it slaughters PSU on Sat :D . If so, could there be any case for keeping it out of the top 4?

We already know what's going to happen to Maryland Saturday when they step on the field with the Buckeyes among the capacity crowd of Ohio State fans.
It's just a formality, but like Dabo said "they don't give any trophies after nine games."

I think I'll go have an RC cola and a slice of pizza.
"I would say rest easy and just enjoy the journey. They don't give those trophies out after nine games."

Swinney was asked if it's "one of those things where the players know" regarding where Clemson was slotted. "Oh yeah they know, I don't have to say anything," Swinney said. We're built for November. We're built for the postseason. I love it. A lot on the line every week." I think we're in a very similar position as last year, and that team finished.

No trophies after 9, but we all know who can't even crack the top four and has to depend on other teams to beat a top four to create them a slot.

You have any idea how many of your posts are just generic taunting? Whether it's sports, politics, religion, whatever, you post only taunts. Why don't you occasionally pick something you'd like to talk about and maybe you would get better responses and less ridicule.
Immature 'nyah, nyah, nyah' is all s/he's got, this time stupidly that ...
... MD football sucks and the fans know it. Pssst, that's a decades-old story, duh. At least the Terps moved to a real conference, the Big Ten, rather than staying in the ACC's "small pond"....

Fwiw, a Maryland grad would not have so stupidly set her/himself up for failure.

Yep, completely forgot about Auburn.
A couple of more losses and they'll be in good company with Maryland.
Hey, it's still possible Auburn will be invited to one of those UCF type bowl games.

#5 Clemson plays 4-4 North Carolina State.

Either LA or AL will lose and drop, perhaps to #5 or further. However:
#6 Georgia plays 5-3 Missouri.
#9 Oklahoma plays 5-3 Iowa State.

If either wins it ought to pass Clemson and keep it out of the top 4.

If #17 Minnesota (8-0) beats #4 Penn State, I’m not sure what happens. Either victor should be placed higher than Clemson, though.
