... Sandy and Luna, Jackie and Shadow's eaglets, appear to have left the nest. FOBBV shared the news of this bittersweet milestone on Wednesday.

"It appears they have left the valley on their grand journey," FOBBV said. "We wish them both the best on their future adventures!"

With Sandy and Luna leaving the area and daddy duties apparently done, Jackie's mate, Shadow, is now on his "summer vacation." ...

Petting Zoo Visitors Warned of Potential Rabies Exposure After Multiple Baby Goats Test Positive for the Disease
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services were notified of the outbreak on Aug. 27

... “The goats were most likely exposed to rabies by a skunk that had entered the pen where they were kept in late July.”

“The NC State Laboratory of Public Health confirmed rabies virus in three of the baby goats on Aug. 28; a fourth goat was not tested but is also assumed to have been infected,” the statement continued....

Bat crawls into woman’s mouth as she sleeps

A doctor from Virginia says she woke up to find a live bat inside her mouth.

Dr Krista Edelman, a gastroenterologist from Richmond, told WWBT that she was sleeping next to her husband when she began dreaming that there was a "little mouse" trying to get into her mouth.

"In my dream I was reaching up to my mouth, and when I did, I grabbed something - ultimately I had folded the bat's wings," she recalled.

The couple caught the mammal so animal control officers could test it for rabies.

Dr Edelman received initial preventive rabies vaccine and immunoglobulin doses, which were stopped once tests confirmed the bat was rabies-negative.
