Maybe I've become a cynic, but don't all the royal ceremonies feel pretty much the same? There's the cathedral, music and a horsey procession with people dressed funny.
Maybe a balcony appearance.
Ummm, I think that's the point. It's called "tradition."
But sure, I suppose you could get rid of the horse carriages and put them in convertibles, get rid of the fancy guard uniforms and put them in camo and have everybody dress business casual. Probably wouldn't feel the same, though.

Do they still get to wear the bearskin hats?
Eamus Catuli~AC 000000000101010202020303010304 020405....Ahhhh, forget it, it's gonna be a while.
I would certainly vote for faux fur. It's laughable that something like that would have much "comfort" criteria. On the other hand, it's not like they made up a bunch of new hats just for the coronation ceremonies.

Idk, how often do they need "thousands of ... King's Guards"? From the first article:
... According to Peta, for each of the cap worn by the King’s Guard, a bear is cruelly killed by being shot or ensnared, sometimes for days, in a painful trap....
I had avoided all the articles, don't watch the news. I've even avoided the ad that pops up on the right side of the screen when I'm about to switch to a streaming channel, but oh no, I stop by here and all of a sudden I know like way more than I want to know about these people - the Royals, everybody prepare to grovel.
Fuck them and their kind. The only thing special about a royal is that somehow regular people fall all over themselves to make bear hats (new to me) special and turn dead people in drunk driving wrecks into admired victims.
Like trump said just a couple of days ago, celebrities have been able to assault the unimportant for a million years.
Here's an idea, put a live black bear on all their heads.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

Sure sounds like current killing.
There weren't "thousands" of King's Guards. There were thousands of military from all over, but only about 200 bearskin wearers in the parade. And I garontee they didn't round up a bunch of people and give them bear hats and let them pretend to be real King's Guards. Sure, I think they should use faux, and sure I've been a long-time PETA member, but PETA tends to exaggerate. A lot.

I agree about PETA and I'm not a member. Sometimes, they choose animal rights absolutism contrary to wildlife and conservation goals.
I didn't watch, so I can't deny you, but it isn't just PETA. From the first article again:
... One person shared their disgust at the parade of animal fur and tweeted: "Is anybody else horrified watching thousands of dead bears being paraded around right now?" Another similarly said: "Over 5,000 dead bears on display in London today. No excuse for allowing trophy hunters in Canada to supply black bear pelts to British Army at tax payers expense. This cruelty must end." ...
Idk if mylondon is a credible news source. Maybe more than 200:
It does look like a lot more than 200. I got that number from a report of what was expected. Apparently they were mistaken. But I'll stand with my comment that they didn't round up a bunch of new recruits and kill off bears to give all the new guys hats. And new guys don't always get "new" hats from a new bear, either. The hats are reputed to last 80 years or so.

Still, I think they should use faux.
I agree, some hats must be old, though I'll bet they show wear before the 80 year mark. It's a big honor to be a King's Guard. They come from the existing military, no new recruits. This article says they're still making caps, but not at what pace. I'm guessing some King's Guard got replacement or new caps for the todo, but have no idea how many.
In order to quash new fur coats, stoles, etc, we compassionate folks had to make all fur, even old fur, intolerable in decent company. I also think they should use faux.

My mistake. I understood that all were real bears kind. And it ain't just brits. It's shahs, and popes, and kings, and grand poobas of the world living on the backs of people everywhere.

The UK King's Guard caps are all real bearskin. Idk about other poobahs using killed animal products.
