We can dream.

Scientists are reporting several cases of Covid-19 reinfection — but the implications are complicated

#5? Seriously? WTF are they thinking. That's the highest ranking since 1948, when a #3 UNC team lost to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. Next closest was #6 in 1997 and a Gator Bowl win, on Mack Brown's last tour with the team.
There's the UNC that we know and love. Shame that it's vs FSU, though.

See, here's the thing about being a 'Heels fannish. You don't really expect anything from the football team except maybe pretty uniforms and an opportunity to spend a warm fall afternoon drinking with your friends in Kenan Stadium and then going out for dinner somewhere like the old Chapel Hill tradition Rathskellar used to be. Win, lose, it doesn't matter much either way. (This of course doesn't apply to the basketball team, where there are different rules and expectations.) And then for some reason, maybe lack of teams playing, maybe bad teams on the schedule, the 'Heels find themselves in the top 10 and a 3-0 record and just for a quick flash you think "maybe they're actually going to pull it off." "Maybe billy.p will give us respect at least up to the UCF level." But then they proceed to get trounced by "the Program", a bare shadow of its former self, and you're back to real life again. But wait - they're still playing - and scoring - and within 3 with a couple minutes left! Naaaa, they're still UNC football. Even in 2020, some things don't change that much.

Seriously? Isn't that a little harsh? Granted, his Bowl record sucks and barely beating Ark is shameful, but he's batting about .670 with WDE, GA is always tough, SC could be a fluke, and he has never had a losing season.

Plus, any other year you would have a couple of nonconference wins vs cream puffs. :P I'm not sure that any coach of a marginal team should be ousted in uber-weird 2020.

CV-19 silver lining - an Appalachian State game gets shown on ESPN, the only college football on.

In contrast, tonight's NFL game is New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles. That's just sad.

I have been on again, off again about gus since day 1 - mostly off. He's probably a great high school coach, but he's pretty much going to lose 4 every season.

I'm just tired of him and his - "okay, that's working great, now let's do something else" attitude. He does it in almost every loss.

Your big rival at U of A seems, from the standpoint of a generally disinterested observer, to keep its dynasty going much better than Auburn. What do you think they're doing different, other than obviously getting the benefit of doubt from all the ranking polls?

Ask anyone from the sec that plays a close game with bammer. Muschamp got so pissed at obvious bad calls that he cost us 30 yards and got him asked to find a new job.

We pick coaches for the wrong reasons and have to keep replacing them, or we fire or violate contracts by looking for other coaches when we do have a good one. Here lately we have been paying huge salaries with even bigger buyouts after one successful season.

It's all been the AD for the past 25 years. Hopefully the new guy will do better.

Add too that we all wouldn't be facing another idiot Senator if Jacobs hadn't pissed Tubby off after he beat bammer 6 in a row.

Vrede, you critize my critism of refs making bad calls at crucial times in bammer games, yet you understand that cheating goes on in business and politics, why not sports. I don't watch games in other conferences so I don't know what you see, but it's obvious you haven't watched a close bamner game.
Because of the money, the sec has tried to have the #1 and #2 national spots leading into our conference championship. The officiating to accomplish this has been so bad that entire crews of officials have been suspended.
Take a look at the lopsided number of Bama alum who are officials.
He's gone now but during Florida's urban days, the former president of the Gainesville gator boosters was a ref for the west.

I don't know if it's actual cheating or just a bias, but bammer and recently uga (replaced Florida in the east) share in some offical breaks, all in the SEC's attempt to have our conference championship #1 vs #2.

Watch this.

I don't know anything about it, but I'd tend to agree with you, just from appearances. I wouldn't say that an Alabama alum *couldn't* be a fair ref, but it seems a bad idea to put them in that position, given that there are bound to be controversial calls. So the fact that they do assign them to ref games for their alma maters does look suspicious.
