Fascism Is here

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Related facts from TV news:
* Congress cut DC's municipal budget, which necessarily meant police cuts.
* Jagoff's Pentagon won't release details on the cost of the NG deployment to DC.

Update:

Twelve days in DC without a homicide.
Over 1000 arrested.
2 missing children located

The only people unhappy in DC are politicians clearly embarrassed.

A source cite for those numbers would be nice. I'd be interested in reading the entire report that detailed what the offences were resulting in arrests, how that number of arrests compares to a typical time period, who found the kids, and whether any of the arrests were made by the military guys imported to "protect federal assets". It would also be good to know the dangers to federal assets these brave guardsmen have faced.

Don't forget MAGA's voluntary fiscal ignorance. What has the cost been of this deployment and what investments in improved community policing could have been made with the same money? Just kidding, Jagoff is hiding the cost. Funny that.

Then, "The only people unhappy in DC," is a baldfaced LIE, typical MAGA. We know for a fact about:
The ongoing protests;
The lack of restaurant diners;
The DC survey results showing overwhelming opposition to the militarization.

Jackboot (ICE) budget > USMC budget :problem:

Idk that the intent is to create a militarized stormtrooper force under DonOLD, but this would be one way to achieve it - avoiding the constitutional ban on using the military for domestic law enforcement until it's too late. Yikes.

This is all so odd. The military isn't supposed to act as law enforcement.

If you haven't seen it already, check out the Spike Lee documentary "Katrina". One point of interest was General Honore yelling at soldiers to put their weapons down, stating that an American city is not a combat zone, and American civilians are not enemies. It's good to know there are real men out there.
I don't think I've ever seen the Spike Lee joint, but NatGeo is also showing an excellent 5-part mini series made this year, Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time. It delves deep into the systemic racism, the exaggeration of violent chaos, the fact of people taking care of each other, the initial National Guard response based on the myths, and General Russel L. Honoré's heroic intervention. Kanye was correct, if clumsy.

Then, Honoré panned TRE45QN's Hurricane Maria response in Puerto Rico. Also:
U.S. Capitol attack security review

... In a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi by Representative Matt Gaetz, he was criticized for statements he made in regard to certain members of Congress, specifically for Senator Josh Hawley to be "run out of D.C." and Representative Lauren Boebert needing to be put on a no fly list.
