On matters like stealing signals, etc., baseball should take more of an approach similar to NASCAR. There, the teams largely follow a philosophy of "if you're not cheatin' you're not tryin'". But the infractions aren't ignored - teams get fined, suspended a race, yada all the time, but nobody thinks they're awful people or should be disbanded. I know I'm late on this topic because I didn't really follow it at the time, but it seems a fine would have been appropriate along with a hearty "play ball" and nobody would have still be remembering it now.

The California high school from which I graduated had and American Indian image as its mascot, and a rally chant revolving around a tomahawk. Nobody thought it was inappropriate at the time (that I'm aware of).

But within 20 years the school system ordered the Indian mascot be dropped. Presumably the tomahawk chant was 86'd as well. I always thought the tomahawk chant was a bit much anyway.

Just because some Europeans are used as mascots is largely irrelevant, unless one of them was also exterminated from their native lands. Irish need not apply.
