Two unvaccinated players get covid and get NC State booted from College World Series. Team blames NCAA. <eyeroll>

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/c ... 356675001/
"NC State baseball coach Elliott Avent (likely a MAGAt trumper) said it wasn't his place to tell his players to get vaccinated."

But he later emphasized that it is his place to set curfews and bedtimes, as well as restrictions on alcohol and should be team travel overseas he would require them to get any required shots as long as it isn't a covid vaccine.

He further stated, "I don’t try to indoctrinate my kids with my values or my opinions."
:bs: They're not his values or opinions. It's his JOB to make his team follow NCAA rules - either vaccination or STRICT protocols - just the same as those for cheating, gambling or payments. If he fails at that, there are consequences.

I laughed when I saw this headline, thinking that it could refer to the intelligence of the infected:

"Dense" :D

Oh wait, it does:

85 teens, staffers get coronavirus at summer camp that didn't require masks or check vaccine status

... All the campers and staffers at Crossing Camp in Rushville, Ill., were eligible for the shots, the Illinois Department of Public Health said in a statement this week, but officials knew of "only a handful of campers and staff receiving the vaccine."

... The spate of infections also appears to have spawned a secondary outbreak. Officials said some people from the camp attended a nearby conference, where 11 people subsequently tested positive....
I'll bet that you've already guessed what isn't mentioned until quite late in the article:
Spoiler:
Crossing Camp describes itself as a "Christ-centered" camp created for K-12 youths whose "priority is to provide an opportunity to encounter Jesus - and have fun doing it."

... Health officials in Oregon recently reported a coronavirus outbreak almost equal in size. At least 74 people were infected after attending a church service in Salem, Ore., where maskless worshipers packed onto a stage and sang together for more than an hour. The church had previously sued to block pandemic public health measures enacted by Oregon's governor....

They need an excuse? :o

Vaccine hesitant are in 'death lottery,' W.Va. governor says

... "At the end of the day, the young people -- we're having a hard time getting them across the finish line and getting them vaccinated," West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (R>D>R) told ABC "This Week" Co-anchor Martha Raddatz....

Nationally, 67% of all adults have received one dose, but only 56.1% of adults in West Virginia have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine -- a surprise from a state that was lauded months ago as being one of the leaders in the U.S. on vaccine distribution.

When that statistic is broken down by age group, the vaccination rate plummets in younger generations. While more than 78% of the U.S. population over the age of 65 is vaccinated in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only 39.5% of 18- to 24-year-olds are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Only 78% for the elderly is scary poor to me.
"Let's go back to who's not getting vaccinated," Raddatz said. "The statistics will show it's poverty, race and you just look at the map -- it's a lot of red states." (see stark map in article and this interactive version, NC is at 42% fully vaxxed)

... "Do you really think those people who aren’t vaccinated -- who as you said may be more conservative, may not want anybody in their business -- are really ever going to get vaccinated?" Raddatz asked. "What could actually put them over the edge to want it at this point?"

"Well, Martha, I hate to say this, is what would put them over the edge, is an awful lot of people die," Justice responded. "The only way that’s going to happen is a catastrophe that none of us want."

"And so, we’re just going to keep trying," he added....
. . . and dying.

Anti-vaxxer RepuQ Thomas Massie (KY) is an ignorant chickenhawk. Figures.
Imagine if people like you were around when the polio vaccine came out.
How can you be ready for war & not be vaccinated? Look at that carrier in the Pacific that was rampant with Covid. Could they have fought? No.

Use your damn brain or pick another profession.
We are under contract and can’t quit it’s literally not possible.
When did they start getting to decide what orders they’ll follow?
Ugh…service members can’t quit. They can refuse to re-enlist but not quit. If they refuse vaccination, the military can make the remainder of your contract hell. They can also discharge them for less than honorable/dishonorable and eliminate their eligibility to earned benefits.
@RepThomasMassie thinks soldiers can quit over something they don’t like.
Wait. What?!? You mean I could have just QUIT the army?!? Now you tell me!

It's a summer pandemic of hand laying.
Church camp COVID outbreak leaves more than 125 infected, Texas officials say

... The pastor at Clear Creek Community Church in League City said hundreds more people were likely exposed to the virus at the camp or when the campers returned home....

“From the beginning of the pandemic, we have sought to love our neighbors by practicing strict safety protocols,” Wesley said....
. . . except for requiring masks, testing and vaccines. Opps.

Vaccinate or repent, Russian church says amid hundreds of daily COVID-19 deaths

Russia's powerful Orthodox Church admonished people refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19, calling them sinners who would have to atone for the rest of their lives, as the country reported another jump in new infections and deaths.

The church urged all its faithful to be inoculated as another 24,353 new COVID-19 cases were registered on Monday, including 6,557 in Moscow, taking the official national tally since the pandemic began to 5,635,294.

The government coronavirus task force said 654 people had died of coronavirus-linked causes in the past 24 hours, pushing the national death toll to 138,579.

The federal statistics agency has kept a separate count and has said Russia recorded around 270,000 deaths related to COVID-19 from April 2020 to April 2021.

Speaking on state television, Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate's department for external church relations, said those refusing to vaccinate were committing "a sin for which they will have to atone throughout their lives".

He added: "I see situations every day where people visit a priest in order to confess that they had refused to vaccinate themselves or their close ones and unwillingly caused someone's death.

"...The sin is thinking of oneself but not of another person."
Are any US churches saying that?

Kids being kids:
Soft drinks can be misused to give false “false positive” SARS-CoV-2 lateral flow device results

Background The COVID-19 pandemic created the need for very large scale, rapid testing to prevent and contain transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Lateral flow device (LFD) immunoassays meet this need by indicating the presence of SARS-CoV-2 antigen from nose/throat swab washings in 30 minutes without laboratory processing, and can be manufactured quickly at low cost. Since March 2021, UK schools have asked pupils without symptoms to test twice weekly. Pupils have posted on social media about using soft drinks to create positive results. The aim of this study was to systematically test a variety soft drinks to determine whether they can cause false “false positive” LFD results....

Interpretation Several soft drinks can be misused to give false positive SARS-CoV-2 LFD results. Daily LFD testing should be performed first thing in the morning, prior to the consumption of any food or drinks, and supervised where feasible.
According to one article:
A positive test can result in an entire class having to isolate at home.

Aside: My brother taught university Zoom classes all year. One student turned on his camera at the end of class just to show that he was there, one.

A parable for today:
A Samaritan ("Sam") walking in a park on a very hot day comes across another man suffering obviously from heat exhaustion. Sam says to the man, "come sit in the shade - you are very dehydrated, but I have some Gator-Ade I'll give you. The man said he would not drink Gator-Ade Sam I am, because it might be poisoned. So Sam drank from the bottle and said "see, it's not poison." The man still refused, saying he would not drink it because it would turn him into a newt. Sam assured the man that he had not become a newt from drinking the Gator-Ade, but left the Gator-Ade with the man, telling him It's his decision to do what he believes is best. The next day Sam reads that the man had died - with two cold bottles of Gator-Ade within arms reach.

Does Sam give a damn?

Maybe a little, but Sam's kid, who was supposed to bring cold Gator-Ade to soccer practice was. He was all like, Dad, not again, when will you understand republicans and quit getting me in trouble.

Sam should not give a damn since evidently another Sam also tried to help this same nutjob. Sam just had one bottle of Gator Ade which he left with the nutjob, yet the nutjob was found with two bottles of it. Sam should not even give half a damn.

Despite Outbreaks Among Unvaccinated, Fox News Hosts Smear Shots

Back in December, before the queen of England and the president-elect of the United States had their turns, media mogul Rupert Murdoch received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Afterward, he urged everyone else to get it, too.

Since then, a different message has been a repeated refrain on the prime-time shows hosted by Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham on Murdoch’s Fox News Channel — a message at odds with the recommendations of health experts, even as the virus’s delta variant and other mutations fuel outbreaks in areas where vaccination rates are below the national average.

Carlson, Ingraham and guests on their programs have said on the air that the vaccines could be dangerous, that people are justified in refusing them and that public authorities have overstepped in their attempts to deliver them.

Carlson and Ingraham last week criticized a plan by the Biden administration to increase vaccinations by having health care workers and volunteers go door to door to try to persuade the reluctant to get shots.

“Going door-to-door?” Ingraham said. “This is creepy stuff.” ...
Assholes. They're both probably vaccinated, too.

Biden administration reportedly 'running out of ideas' for boosting pace of vaccinations

I think they should try the strategy we've been practicing here for months - mocking them and expressing enthusiastic approval for their suicidal behavior. It may or may not work, but it will be fun.

I think they should be given a "vaccine" that's fake; not a vaccine at all but just a vitamin shot or something. And also not give them a card saying they've been vaccinated. I feel this will satisfy just about everyone. An aside: TN has fired the head of its infectious disease department because she was pushing the idea of getting as many kids over 14 as possible to get vaccinated.

Some of the anti-vaxxers claim the vaccination is "unapproved" "experimental" yada and doesn't have "final FDA approval." Forgetting, I suppose, that the FDA is one of those evil damgummint agencies and if it did approve the vaccine, the covidiots would simply claim it were forced to by the baby-eating Democratic regime that wants to control their lives and then make soylent green out of their kids. These people are truly fools, easily fooled, and unbelievably foolish.

Still technically "emergency approval", which has been enormously successful with hundreds of millions of delivered doses, outrageous efficacy and POSSIBLE negative side effects only in the hundreds. This will be marked as one of history's greatest medical achievements.

Yep. Regular approval, which I think Pfizer may be close to, won't make a difference with the COVIDiots other than to alter the thrust of their screeching.
