Florida firefighter seen at the Capitol just got arrested. His lawyer shifts the blame

A Central Florida firefighter photographed inside the U.S. Capitol during last week’s pro-MAGA riot was arrested Tuesday on charges of disorderly conduct and unlawful entry.

Andrew Williams had been put on paid administrative leave by the Sanford Fire Department, where he had worked since 2016, but is now on unpaid leave.

... After a hearing in federal court in downtown Orlando on Tuesday, Williams was released and ordered to surrender his passport and all weapons.

The first responder also was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and cannot travel outside the state of Florida, unless it is for legal business....

Williams’ lawyer blamed others for his clients’ issues as they were leaving the courthouse.

“The president and the Capitol police encouraged despicable behavior,” Vincent Citro told a press pool as they entered a waiting car. “Mr. Williams took part in none of it.”

A judge set bond at $25,000. Williams’ next court date is Jan. 22 in Washington, D.C.

Each offense is punishable of up to a year in jail.

Capitol Rioter Came Back to D.C. for Inauguration, Feds Say

A Florida man wanted after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot tried to return to the scene of the crime for the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Like many of the MAGA fanatics who have been arrested in the two weeks since the insurrection, Samuel Camargo implicated himself by bragging about his participation on social media, authorities said....

One of Camargo’s former classmates tipped off investigators to the postings, and an FBI agent called him. He admitted he had been at the Capitol but had since returned to Broward County, Florida.

“Shortly after the interview began, Camargo became uncooperative, questioning your affiant’s loyalty to the constitution, and advised the interviewing agent he had no information to provide,” the complaint says.

Soon after, Camargo posted a message on Facebook: “Just finished talking to an FBI agent, I believe I’ve been cleared.”

Wrong.

A week later, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia filed four charges against Camargo. And on Tuesday, Florida police went to his home to arrest him—only to find he was gone.

Investigators tracked him to Washington, where he was picked up and allegedly admitted he knew he was facing charges.

“In fact, in spite of knowing that he was wanted in connection with his prior actions at the U.S. Capitol, the defendant decided that he should attempt to attend the Inauguration rather than turn himself into authorities,” prosecutors wrote in a Thursday filing.

Camargo’s bizarre return to Washington, they argued, made him a flight risk and they asked that he be held. The judge agreed to keep Camargo behind bars until a Feb. 4 detention hearing.

This looks like the sort of asshole who might get thrown over the side one night......back when I was Apprentice Admiral of the Fleet I recall times outside underway at night when you could not see your hand in front of your face.....especially after smoking the biggest part of an opium streaked Marlboro. Had I gone over the side it would have been at least 6 or 7 hours before anyone noticed me missing. Same with this fellow.

May be. Only 35ish percent of Florida residents were born there, and 8% of the population did in fact move there from NY, though not necessarily the City - the highest percentage of any state. Nevertheless, I'd argue that Florida is perfectly capable of growing its own native "Florida Man", some of whom I've seen personally in the wild. Controlled breeding has been attempted, but the species seems to flourish in feral form.
