51 years ago, today . . . .

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

People are crazy and times are strange. I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but, things have changed.

I remember that well......Transferring from Groton, Conn., my Dad was assigned to the Thresher prior to it's last of many repairs at Portsmouth (NH). A severe stomach virus landed him in the infirmary that necessitated his transfer to full hospital facilities which in turn caused him to be removed from the roster and being replaced with another unfortunate soul. He was devastated when he learned of the news that all his friends and comrades had perished.

Just curious Boatrocker....did you have any connections to USS Thresher?

I was a bubblehead myself in the 70s. USS George Bancroft, SSB(N) 643, Blue crew. Boomer sailor. Been deep and heard the plates groan, saw poprivets pop out of their holes. You feel really close to Thresher and Scorpion at such times. And you never forget.

It's too damn bad you turned out like you did. I would have taken you for a conscientious objector.

Mr.B. were you a Navy man?
