GOP Hypocrisy: Outraged Over Benghazi, Silent on Iraq

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

GOP Hypocrisy: Outraged Over Benghazi, Silent on Iraq

Unread post by GoCubsGo »

Such a surprise, bad politics, won't help them win an election. Screw the truth and the country.

Also, where's the "outrage" over the 100+ embassy attacks and 300+ dead during the Shrub years.....assholes one and all.

So why haven't we brought Bush and Cheney to Washington to answer some very hard questions under oath?
And that question is about the Iraq fiasco, not about 9/11.
"Bin Ladin Public Profile May Presage Attack" (5/3/01)

"Bin Ladin's Networks' Plans Advancing" (5/26/01)

"Bin Ladin Attacks May Be Imminent" (6/23/01)

"Bin Ladin and Associates Making Near-Term Threats" (6/25/01)

"Bin Ladin Planning High-Profile Attacks" (6/30/01)

"Planning for Bin Ladin Attacks Continues, Despite Delays" (7/02/01)

- subject lines of Richard Clarke emails to Bush Administration prior to 9/11/01

"You know, Dick Clarke. Dick Clarke, who was the head of the counterterrorism program in the run-up to 9/11. He obviously missed it."
- Dick Cheney, on Richard Clarke

"Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S."
- Presidential Daily Brief, August 6, 2001

"All right, you've covered your ass now."
- George W. Bush, to the CIA briefer who warned him about an imminent bin Laden strike, August 6, 2001
Clinton getting a BJ was declared to be of vital national importance by the Republicans. They did everything but demand that he get re-blown on the Senate floor. ("We must know exactly what happened!!!) Everything had to be done in public and under oath, and every word published.

Not so with 9/11, when they investigated what warnings the President received.

The White House wanted to limit any appearance by the president to just one hour spent with two of the commissioners. Bush II did eventually meet with the Commission, but only under stringent conditions: Bush had to have Dick Cheney at his side, testifying at the same time; testimony was given in private and NOT UNDER OATH; no press coverage was allowed; and no recordings or transcripts were made of what they said.

Do anyone believe, even for an instant, that there isn't some damning piece of evidence they kept unpublished?

The figures for Bush II might be a little high. I saw a well researched article that
had 13 embassy or consulate attacks killing 60 people, most of whom were not
Americans, though Iraq was left out of the calculations since it was a war zone
at the time.

It will be interesting to see how Tres Grumpy handles things. Will he be an
honest broker and keep things on the straight and narrow or will he be his
usual bullying, overbearing, arrogant self? I'm going for the latter, but time will
tell. He might make it worthwhile to watch some of them just for the entertainment
value. Hair stylists might want to tune in too.

I posted it here in October 2012, with citations from Wikipedia.

I compiled the list a month or so earlier and posted it in a Benghazi thread on Reddit. The next day it was on Huffington Post and elsewhere.

My bad, I was using Republican math.

And I can't remember the Democrats making a big deal out of the
embassy attacks or trying to gin up an investigation. I would love
to see the Democrats make a big, well-designed poster listing all
the embassy attacks and the death toll while Bush II was president.
Gowdy would have a total meltdown. I doubt they would do it,
but boy would that be a kick.
