Robin Williams suicide

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

A man of overwhelming talent; foul-mouthed, funny, or tender-hearted. RIP Robin; you'll be missed.

T/N Poll:

Did the late comedian Robin Williams ever get you to laugh with his TV or movie appearances, or his comedy routines?

Yes 94%
No 6%

Number of votes cast: 239
That 6% has either been living under a rock, or never watched his shows......
I remember his first guest appearance on 'Happy Days'.

Because, if your friends don't laugh, and if they don't laugh, well they're no friends of mine.

I think Robin Williams would say that this just proves that 6% of folks are on a steady diet of Seconal and alcohol, or they're just naturally pissed off.

We can leave those friends behind.

Yes, hanging is gruesome and (according to my late father the shrink who was both an authority on depression and had personal experience), some people try to punish those left behind. But on the surface, it looked like he may have unsuccessfully tried first to cut his wrists then picked what was nearby. I did wonder why he didn't manage to stock up on some chemicals - surely they would have been available to him. I'm guessing he had been thinking about it for some time, without a firm plan, and then for whatever reason decided "tonight is it." Very sad, no matter what.

However, hanging is a visibly ugly way to go and I think doing so where your wife might have found you and your assistant did find you is pretty nasty and selfish. Am I being too harsh? I'm open to changing my mind.
I read a quote somewhere online a while back that said something along the lines of "Suicide takes the anguish away from you and spreads it instead to your friends and family."

I also read that Williams was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and dying from that is not a pretty way to go.

Yes, all suicide harms friends and family but I understand that for some life is just too horrible, regardless. My issue is solely with the means, timing and location he chose. It seems needlessly cruel unless he'd become completely irrational.
Some would say suicide itself is completely irrational, but I'm not one of them. I'm not sure if that makes me irrational or not.

The MIL offed herself legally, peacefully, and painlessly in WA. Too bad that option isn't available everywhere.

My bad, he may very well have been completely irrational.
In turn, more reason to believe that Robin Williams is still alive and masquerading as Ted Cruz.
