Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Server Migration

Unread post by bannination »

Hey guys, if blueridgedebate stops working for whatever reason anytime over the weekend, do not fear, I've probably just hit the wrong switch and we'll be back within 24 hours.

For the more technical among us, I'm going to be transferring DNS control back to the domain registrar from the web host in order to do some testing. I'm trying to get us off shared hosted by November when the contract is up, and on to our own vps. I'm not too solid on the networking side, MX records, CNAME's, A records and such, therefore the warning. :D

Update:

So, it looks like the DNS change went well, and I've got apache, mysql, phpmyadmin, and a version of the database transferred over..... and it's SNAPPY :> (http://www.thederp.pw - It'll be on and offline until the "real" move. In which the domain will change to blueridgedebate.com.) I should be ready way before November.... I should have started later!

Sorry, I'm just geeking out since I'll have more options for some of my personal projects on there as well!

Sound like the names of some exotic hallucinogenic drugs.....

"Hallucinogenic drugs are any drugs with psychoactive effects. They cause change in perception, thought, and emotion. They are not physically addicting. Unlike other psychoactive drugs, hallucinogenic drugs do not amplify familiar states of mind; they induce states that are outside of regular consciousness. Memory and intellectual impairment are minimal."

If that ain't a description of blueridgedebate, I don't know what is.....oh wait...this is blueridgedebate ain't it?...what was I thinking!?

Don't know if you've done anything yet or not, but I did have an issue with logging on to the site; took some time....otherwise, no other problems.

You're in the wrong thread......you should have posted in Vrede's 'Tree Hugger' thread or Banni's 'Global Warming' thread...... :D

Probably just temporary problems with the current server. I'm getting sick of it, hence the move. Load average has consistently been > 10.0 (That's insane.)

I think your server migrated into cyber-space last night when I tried to log in....
(Gotta tip your server a little better, Banni....)

This is what I got:

[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/common.php on line 122: require(./includes/hooks/index.php) [function.require] :failed to open stream: No such file or directory

Yeah, sorry about that, I was doing some more prep work to move the service and uh... messed something up. I was working on it late last night.... and when that happened I ended up working much later than I intended. After I fixed that little flub, I lost all the user avatars.... had to fix that.... it was a long night, and I'm sleepy today. After I fixed the avatars, I changed mine to the... foot... as a joke to anyone who seen my flubs.

I thought this whole thing was going to be about some sort of massive shift of waiters and waitresses from one hotel chain to another one. Gee.

No no, they're exotic dancers, and we're moving them from one club to another.
