DOMA will be going down. Along with the state laws not allowing same-sex marriage. If you strip away the religious factors and the homophobe whining, looking at it only from a legal standpoint, one side has a Constitutional basis; one side does not. Guess which is which.

Why stop there? Go for all your dreams. Why do we even bother having legislators any longer? The unelected barrister tyrants make it all up without the consent of the governed. George III only dreamed of such absolute power. Even ol' drop trouser Bill Clinton, who's stumping for the Kenyan as we speak, had enough sense not to veto DOMA, and he was the most immoral president of our time.
Perhaps someday we'll find enough legislators to challenge the perversion of gay "marriage" with a constitutional amendment that these despicable judges can't touch....maybe throw an abortion ban in for good measure.

Re: Tick Tock
I don't know that anybody has said the word "abortion" is in the Constitution, nor is the specific phrase "separation of church and state." Who said those terms were there? But that doesn't make them imaginary. The Constitution is (1) what it says; and (2) what the Supreme Court says it says or means. So if you bothered to actually read Roe v. Wade, you'd see that it was decided in accordance with precedent and going back to words that are in the original Constitution. Bottom line, it's a privacy issue - a "keep the government out of our lives" issue - not so much abortion per se. And if you bother to get on past the Second Amendment, you'll find that in the 5th and 14th that citizens are entitled to "equal protection under the law." It doesn't say anything limited that equal protection only to heterosexual males or white people. Sorry. So if a law is passed and favors one group over another, it will be found unconstitutional. When a state passes a law regulating, for example, a contractual relationship they choose to call "marriage," and on which they collect taxes (via licensing), then they have to let everyone in on an equal basis. At least eventually, and probably a lot sooner than the homophobes believe.Partisan62 wrote:

I guess equal protection under the law doesn't apply to a fetus.

Oops...! Looks as though the subject of the thread got changed, didn't it?
I suppose the above photos give Vrede more ammunition for his pro-homosexual campaign, huh? More queers, less abortions.

Yeah, the anti-abortionists are pretty much a bunch of one-trick ponies. The ones that are good at the trick, though, can find a connection to abortion from practically any topic, no matter how far away it might have appeared. Sorta like the poster formerly known as "Det. Thorn" on the mention of the "M" word.

If the pro-faggots and cox huckers get their way, they won't have to worry about kids running to the ice cream truck or abortions.Vrede wrote:It's like having an ice cream truck - ring the bell and the children like homerfobe, (sur)Reality and snuff-addict DooHickey come running. Re: Tick Tock
Neal Boortz used to say he refused to have discussions about abortion on his show. Nobody ever changes their mind, and all possible arguments have been used over and over. I've got no problem with someone being anti-abortion. I'm probably anti-abortion even though I think the procedure should continue to be legal. But when they call themselves "pro-life" for wanting to save fetuses while asking the state to kill off people as vengeance or punishment - or, worse still, think it's OK to kill the fetus if it's from rape or incest, I just have to flip the "fraud" card on the table. Want to be against abortion? Fine. Be against all abortion of any sort. It's not the fetuses fault s/he was conceived in rape. Want to be pro-life? Fine. Be against all abortion as well as all capital punishment.
Me? I'm happy with the abortion law as it is, and the issue isn't a big deal to me. If I were a young pregnant female, I'd probably look for some solution other than abortion, however. Capital punishment? No problem with me as long as they'd just take the convicted criminal out back and shoot him. Killing people as punishment cheapens life. Lets just admit we're violent and move on. Current practice? Really really stupid.

"Killing people as punishment cheapens life......" OK, so what does killing people for fun or profit do for this life thing? If killing people as punishment is really, really stupid, why even have laws or law enforcement? Maybe we should live in a society of 'every man for himself'? Sounds like Somalia to me; is that what you'd prefer; a Warlord Society?O Really wrote:Capital punishment? Maybe you could explain the root cause of this violent society we live in, and what the cure would be to fix it.
Good luck; Christians have been trying that for eons.
(oh wait....I almost forgot. Vrede and Bungleload says legalizing drugs is a step in the right direction...my bad)
