Thank you, gongoozler, for starting this thread. There's a football game on tonight, so I won't be watching. But cheers; it needed to be done.

Mitt's face keeps getting red... could be anger or embarrassment.

Y'all aren't missing much. This is the best moderator hands down. It looks like a tie so far.

Re: Debate Thread
Obama interrupted in the first segment and kept interrupting. His strategy was clear when Romney was making a significant point Obama would interrupt.
The big thing a challenger must do in a debate is show he is knowledgable about foreign affairs. The incumbent always has the advantage in a foreign affairs debate. Romney
Obama's use of sarcasm to make points showed him to be petty and wrong. Marines still train in the use of bayonets.
Romney was more Presidential.
It is clear Obama has lost the debate on the murder og a gay ambassador and three others. Romney smart not to bring up Obama's lies. Romney did not give Obama this stage to spin another lie.

Nice analysis, Tert. Personally, I don't care what either of them said or did. I care only about which one gets how much of a bounce, if any, in likely voters. Those who trashec Obama for his milquetoast first performance may like the "interruptions". We'll see in a couple of days.

I'm shocked! A loyal member of the right wing distorting what was said by the President??!! Surely not, Shirley.Vrede wrote:Tertius wrote:Obama does not know what our military is doing. No horses really! No he didn't.Tertius wrote:Obama says we no longer use bayonets...
"Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets..."
You win the prize for first lies about this debate. Congrats!
Detrius must certainly have been misquoted. Certainly he could no have said that Obama says " we no longer use bayonets" when what he actually said is "we have fewer horses and bayonets." Shocked! Shocked, I say.

Re: Debate Thread
Regardless of my mistake no or fewer, Obama's sarcasm did not play well. Obama won the debate but Romney proved knowledgable and Presidential. That is all the challenger needs to do on foreign affairs.
While neither talked about the Libya lies. Everyone else is and Obama has lost not only foreign affairs credibility but the Clinton advantage they gave him. Hillary's credibility is gone for this election. President Clinton and Hillary are regrouping and Obama is odd man out.

Does anyone here realize that Tertius believes that Obama purposely set Ambassador Stevens up to be killed because Obama didn't want his and Stevens' gay activities in Chicago to come out?
Even Defective Colon and Butt Ugly aren't that unhinged.

Debate analysis:
Romney shook the Etch A Sketch again, just as he has in the two previous debates, and moved to the middle, abandoning all the positions he took as a "severe conservative."
Like Gingrich said about Romney, "You cannot debate someone who is dishonest. You just can't."

Re: Debate Thread
I didn't catch but a few minutes of it, but I found what I did see particularly amusing. When Obama brought up Romney's investment of companies who outsource I think Romney went white. Romney tried to steer away from that as quickly as possible.
Romney was pretty mute on giving tax breaks to companies who outsource as well.

Re: Debate Thread
I watched most of it and felt Obama beat Romney in every respect. I myself thought it was telling how Mitt would adopt a sort of tight lipped smile, or maybe it was a grimace, while the president was talking. The president kept a neutral expression I thought. So, my take is two to one for the president in the debates. And will someone give Turdybus a mule and a fixed bayonet?

I dunno, but it was odd.
