The GOP today is fueled by resentment. It's members are addicted to outrage. Go browse the CPPF. The majority of what's written is purely reactionary. Out in the wild I find this to be true as well. Most of the posts you read on social media are the same. These people are addicted to outrage much in the same way people are addicted to shitty day-time talk shows like Maury Povich and Jerry Springer. They're absolutely obsessed with the it.

I think one can hold conservative values and beliefs while not becoming completely overcome by resentment and obsessed with revenge. I don't see this in the modern GOP.

I mean, take this health care bill that's on it's way to becoming law, what citizen is saying "yes, please reduce the amount of benefits I receive and increase my premiums". Who are they representing? Not us.

The good thing is that the bill passed today has no chance of becoming law as is, and during the time the Senate is working on their alternative, Republicans will be bashed over the parts like "pre-ex" and states opting out of basic coverage, which nobody wants to see go away. And then the budget office will report, and it won't be good. There are 24 GOPers who voted for it and are in at-risk districts already. Spend between now and the next election beating them over the head with this and we'll win some of those seats.

Funny thing about this thread subject. When Obama issued the ACA, Americans were up in arms, screaming & shitting about government intervening into the personal lives of it's citizens. Health care costs rose astronomically for millions, people couldn't continue to see their doctor of choice as promisesd, and thats just a couple of the clusterfucks that the ACA brought about. Now that this dickhead is wanting to repeal the act, everyone is up in arms again.
