More liberals

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Here now, well with all the liberal mind readers here I didn't think it was necessary.

Since you've defined those who object to torturing small animals as "liberal", one can only conclude that those on your side of the political spectrum are in favor of torturing small animals.

Somehow this is not surprising.

For the sport of it, I could argue either side of the question of whether they should be allowed to keep doing the "possum drop," but I don't understand the Colonel's idea of "somebody else's business." It's not just a guy in his backyard worrying a possum. It's a widely promoted event, with Clay Logan's website proudly proclaiming coverage on CBS; it's associated with the town of Brassville; and it's listed in the Cherokee County Chamber website. That makes it national public business.

I could also argue that it's pretty stupid that you can get a licence to kill it, but not a licence to keep it in a cage for a couple of weeks, but that's the way it is in a state that allows the "opps" defense for shooting someone in the woods. Personally, I doubt the possum is harmed or severely traumatized with permanent damage. Maybe not much worse than hauling Punxsutawney Phil out every Groundhog Day, except that Phil was domesticated over time and is pretty much used to being handled and gawked at.

The article clearly describes what they're doing, with a wild animal. They don't need to use the word "torture."

(Let me guess: You think that Bush Administration tactics like waterboarding, stress positions, beatings with electrical cables and slicing a guy's balls with razor blades.... was not torture because they used the words "enhanced interrogation"?)

You can catch a possum, put him in a cage, feed him good clean food for a few weeks, and then kill him and eat him, but you can't catch one, put him in a cage, feed him good clean food for a few weeks, and lower him in a cage, and then let him go?

Makes a lot of frickin' sense.

Maybe PETA would be happier if he went out and killed one and then lowered the dead possum at midnight. Not traumatizing him then.

An 18-page ruling? Seriously?

That's the biggest ****-up of the whole thing.

I will be happy to organize a substitute literacy fundraiser in Brasstown featuring a "Colonel Taylor Drop", if he has the brass.
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Chickens would put a stop to that in a heartbeat.

They had a "Snooki Drop" in Seaside Heights for New Years. http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/610020/s ... year.jhtml

That's better than a possum any day. Maybe Brasstown could have a "Possum Queen Drop" http://www.clayscorner.com/ (halfway down the page, on right).

Or maybe a "Purtiest Gurl in the Trailer Park Drop"

I don't think you need a license to wack a possum. If so, my dogs are in a heap 'o trouble.

I posted a pretty good recipe around here somewheres
