Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

"...heard about a then-little-known Southern rock outfit called The Allman Brothers Band.:

"Other performers included Big Brother..." Was that the real post-Janice band?

Idk for sure at concerts, but it looks like they were still going by the full Big Brother and the Holding Company in 1970.

I came to know of The Allman Brothers Band, of course, none of the others besides Wet Willie, who I really liked. Amazingly, they're still active, though I don't think I've heard of or thought about them since the 1970s.

Janice wasn't there but I saw BB... with Janice a few weeks before and after.

the Allman Bros played several hours each day. It was years before I could enjoy Whipping Post again.

Much of this weekend remains foggy.

Well, it wasn't 49 years ago today, but 50 years ago today that four Kent State University students were shot and killed by the Ohio National Guard during a Vietnam War protest. I vividly remember me and my friends, who were in high school at the time, thinking about and wondering if this is what awaits us once we head off to college. A few days later a couple of black students were killed at Jackson State in MS but this event didn't get the attention the Kent State affair got.

A few of us were talked out of doing something really stupid that night.

Yeah, it was a galvanizing moment for a lot of us at the time. And even though it took another five years for the war to "end" I've always figured this event did a lot to sway many to be against the war.

Damn, I was going to mention that It's Star Wars Day, but now that feels frivolous. Thanks for the reminder, neoplacebo.

It hit me hard, though I was a bit young to consider doing something really stupid. A few years later I helped organize and participated in annual reenactments on my northern Rockies campus.

I bet there were discussions about quite a few ROTC buildings that night.

Cooler heads (and probably a few chicken-shits) prevailed.

Not quite 49 years yet, but frivolity is important, too. May the Fourth be with you.

if trump wins, I'm not sure that I would go along with wanting to be a part of his death and destruction.
