Shuler to work for Duke Energy

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I agree. Shuler's a slime and needs to join the hypocritical John Edwards in the "I'll do anything for a buck" line.

I must admit that this news was unsettling. On one hand, I hate that Heath will be getting a nice paycheck from Duke Power. On the other hand, I couldn't wait to read your disgust with your former green hero as he showed his true colors - not red or blue, but green. Health's never been a Republican or a Democrat just as he was never a Redskin or a Raider. He's always been solely focused on himself and his own financial gains.

I'm not sure who to root for (you or Heath) when the two of you are face to face at the next coal powered plant demonstration!

Sr. VP of Lobbying.
I wonder if McCrory got him the job. Payback for being a loyal Republican who took one for the team. Slimebag.

My, my, I can't believe the libs have turned on one of their own. Don't y'all realize he was a dependable Pelosi vote when she really needed him. He got a pass on other issues to try and keep his constituents fooled that he was actually a "Blue Dog".

for your consideration

while I may give a dem more of a chance while waiting for necessary information, I, as do most dems, tend to give credit where credit is due. Shuler’s voting record is something that republicons have counted on as often as Pelosi. His votes average to the right of all but 3 dems and 2 repugs.

also, I find it interesting that a con would make a comment about a dem not following the flock, when it has been the repugs who have stood in lock-step far more often
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

I think you meant: His votes average to the right of all but 3 dems, and 2 repugs (looks like 5) are to the left of him.
Shuler had the lowest percentage of voting with his party of any person in Congress. The Republicans used to like to talk about how he voted with his party 87% of the time, as if that made him a P-Lo lapdog. They never mentioned it was the lowest of all. This is because most votes will always be along party lines - not as some evil conspiracy, but let's say you've got a bill that most everybody likes. All votes will be "along party lines" because there isn't any disagreement. A huge number of bills are, remarkably, bi-partisan. They're just stuff that doesn't make news. So when there is a significant disagreement, the disagreement is often along party lines, and most people vote with their party.

I voted for Shuler, and, had he run and not been gerrymandered out, I would have held my nose and voted for him again. But to say that he's "on of our own" is a stretch of imagination way past reason.
